I don't think it has anything to do with egos. You can think Mike is a great, be happy for him, congratulate him - to each their own. I'd say you're probably in the minority. Saints fans hate the guy. He's been an absolute heel for the past decade. Rivalries are fun. Letting your rival get free accolades is just really bizarre and not something anyone would expect to see. It’s a personal accolade that made him a lot of money. All these players are typically friendly to one another once game is over - so as much of a d-bag Evans is… the Saints players are ok to see him get his milestone and get paid because at the end of the day it’s a business.
