Well, Let's get Ben Johnson as HC and a QB with a top 2 pick in the Draft (1 Viewer)

Just look at who his dad is.
That has nothing to do with anything really. They both have a supreme sense of confidence in themselves but you have to have that to be great in this game at nearly every higher level. How was he a poor teammate and a distraction off field by poor or bad behavior?

This would not be the year to force pick a QB. Get some dang plug and play guys, along with playmakers. Worry about drafting a QB next year or something. Btw, I like Sanders as an NFL QB. If he is there when we pick, ngl…….it would be hard for me to pass on him. I just don’t think we would have a chance to get him.

We aren't even coming close to the playoffs. Even if somehow we win 6 of the last 9 games, that only puts us at 8 and 9. We'd likely have to win 8 of the last 9 to even have a shot at the playoffs. That's not happening.

We need to keep DA for the remainder of the season because he stinks and that'll almost guarantee a higher draft pick. We then need to hire Ben Johnson and, assuming we only win 1 or 2 more games this season (or none), we'll have a top-2 pick in the draft. Draft Shedeur Sanders or Quin Ewers - both are elite, special QBs. Let's start from scratch on offense.

Just my hopeful opinion halfway through this embarrassing season.
Ben Johnson to Chicago or Jacksonville to work with two young QB's.

How about this: A combination of hiring Ben Johnson, while trading fair compensation (whatever that would be) to Detroit for Hendon Hooker?

Why is Ewers even in the conversation? I don't see how he is better than our young QBs.

Very possible you are correct. Everyone talks about Rattler, some of it because of college, but Haener just looks like he has “it”. Mostly because of his poise. I can’t shake the feeling that next year after more experience that he will be capable of being a top 20 QB if he had a different Head Coach.

I just don’t think any QB, not even Stroud could’ve come in as a young rookie or sophomore and find success under Dennis Allen

Jake Browning is the backup for the Bengals. He is better than every rookie in the 2025 draft including Cam Ward, and seems better than Derek Carr. I’m honestly surprised how everyone forgot what he did last year.

Please prepare yourself, there is almost no shot that DA gets fired. We would have to get blown out in every remaining game for it to even be considered. Even then there is no guarantee.

I think that's the stage of depression a lot of us are drifting toward. The people that can make the call really don't care what the fans think. We're obviously dumb and lack the capacity to see the big picture like Mick.

That became obvious to me when Loomis extended Carr's contract, Cam's and a few others. This guarantee's a few things.

1. We have a load of dead money coming our way and big contracts of massively underperforming vets, creating future cap issues. If you think we were having cap problems last offseason, just wait. It gets worse.
2. No great head coach candidate is going to sign on with a sinking ship unable to sign free agents, with little draft capital, with an aging roster that is underperforming greatly. Our cap, and roster, essentially locking Carr into the starting QB role for at least two more years means we're not looking at starting over. Carr is Dennis Allen's guy. As long as we're tied to Carr, we're tied to Dennis Allen.
3. Even if we move on from Allen this offseason, the head coaching job would be about as attractive as Carolina/Cleveland.

At this point, the only thing that makes any sense at all, is for Loomis to keep DA next season and the season after, eat as much dead money as possible next offseason and the season after, and then start over. If we were going to have any solid shot at starting over, the cap cleanup and roster cleanup needed to start this offseason. We could've done it in 1 year, but after extending Carr and some other aging bloated contracts, it will likely take two years.

If you think this season is bad, just wait till next year when Carr, Taysom and Kamara are older and more prone to injury, Davis, Jordan and HoneyBadger are older and underperforming, and we move on from Lattimore.

DA will have to rely on Werner, Adebo, Taylor, Raheed and Miller. LOL. They're great players, but they're not good enough to come anywhere close to outplaying bad coaching. Our lone super bright spot is Kamara. And again, he can't do it all by himself without good coaching.

The disconnect between the fanbase and management is growing at a rapid pace. I am only 42, but I can remember some terrible years when we were a joke. Even in those years, I do not remember it being such a clown show type of environment. We either just had a bad head coach, lacked talent, etc. This is a new experience. We have a GM who does not seem like a football guy but knows how to manipulate the cap. Still, he is extremely hard-headed and seems hell-bent on proving he can win his way, and with his guy, we have a head coach who statistically is one of the worst head coaches in any professional sport in history, and then we also lack depth and talent. The only way we can even be an average team is if we have no injuries at all, which is really not possible. It's a very bad situation and likely much worse than most even realize.

Bold : Everyone is quick to say "bad draft pick" or "bad free agent signing" but how much of that is coaching? It's literally the coaches job to coach up players and put players in positions to succeed with good game planning. Point being, for all we know, Ireland and Loomis are doing a good job there but DA is unintentionally sabotaging it. Its really hard to say, but its a slippery slope on where to point fingers on that issue with accuracy. We know DA is responsible at some level. Depth talent has dropped every year since he took over as head coach, and starters have been performing less and less every year (slightly, but still) since DA took over as head coach. Its hard for me to call that a coincidence.

It's important to note, that every player we depend on to win (minus Carr, our two tackles, and one WR) came from the Payton regime. If they dominate, we win. If they don't, we lose. And as stated previously, all of their play as been declining yearly since Payton left.

Oh yea, I do not know where exactly the issue is. I do know we continue to get worse under DA.

Loomis has just flipped to being the "bad guy" here because of his ignorant handling of the HC position and the way he talks to and about the fans. As if the fans are just completely stupid, and need to blindly follow his ignorance in regards to DA

Ya, I keep trying to get a feel on Loomis. There are a lot of things I understand. Sticking with DA only makes sense if you're going to use that time to accumulate talent through great draft picks while cleaning up the cap for the next guy. His contract moves this past season however scream "Dennis Allen is our guy" with the handling of Carr's contract, Cam's etc.

No knew coach wants to come in and be locked in with an (at best) average QB for a couple of years, low draft capital, and pretty much zero free agency capability, all while having an aging, underperforming roster.

It's starting to look like Loomis really doesn't have any plans and is hog tying himself to Dennis Allen for 2025-2026.

Why in the hell would Ben Johnson want to come here? This place is a disaster with our old roster and cap hell.
