What do you use to shave? (1 Viewer)

They discontinued the one that worked the best ever for me, it was a light turquoise color with two blades and a purple moisture strip.

Now I'm using the Schick Hydro - I like it but it's the first time I've used one where you change the blade instead of tossing the whole thing and I have trouble changing it.

I bought mine on a random trip to Wally World but here's a rebate for a free one. http://www.schickhydro.com/freehydro/america-default.asp
And I KNOW I don't have that receipt anymore. :(

i use something called the Gillette Sensor 3... it came out after the orig. Sensor and Sensor Excel, but before the Mach line... the blades are kinda hard to find, but CVS has them.. I never did like the 'swivel' design of the Mach or Fusion lines; it feels like i'm dragging a wet spoon along my face... i much prefer the stability of the Sensor line.. i usually switch the blades once a week, so an 8 pack of blades lasts me 2 mos, at about $2.50 per blade.. sucks, but i haven't found a better alternative, or been able to make them last any longer.. not sure what i'll do when they stop making the Sensor liine-- maybe i'll start stockpiling them like the guy in the article.

I use an electric. All I do is trim, though.

This thread reminds me I look like a hobo and need to shave.

The first blade does absolutely nothing
The second blade touches your whiskers
The third through fifth blade cut the top millimeter of your whiskers
Blades six though ten cut the remainder of your hair
Blades eleven and twelve cut any stray hairs that weren't cut by blades six through ten
Blade thirteen shaves off the top layer of your epidermis
Blade fourteen completely shaves away your epidermis
Blades fifteen and sixteen cut into your veins
Blade seventeen chips away at your facial bones

The Platinum Mach 14

I use the fusion. In my years I've found that the shaving cream is almost as important as the blade. I use the fusion shaving cream as well.

I always dry my blade when finished too.

Isn't there a gizmo that re sharpens razor blades?

Does anyone know if it really works....?

I read somewhere that drying the blade would significantly increase the lifespan.

I use the Power Fusion. It's a great blade and a close shave.

I also started using this stuff a couple years ago and it's amazing. It makes the razor glide over my face, even after a few days without shaving. Highly recommended.

And yes. Drying your blade extends the life of it. That being said, I probably only change blades every two weeks or so... and then the last one I have lasts for a solid two to three months because I can never remember to buy new ones.
