What do you use to shave? (1 Viewer)

]I get about 40 shaves per blade when I use a Quatro or Fusion blade. Try drying it off after and storing it away from wet, damp places. They last forever.

i need to start drying mine

then again, i only shave every 3-5 days depending on my level of laziness that week....

Active duty military, always gotta be clean shaven. I'm olive skinned w/pitch black hair so about 30 mins after I shave, my goatee line is already back in pretty thick. Normally shave when I get to work, about 11 and again about 2. Sucks working around nothing but E-8's, E-9's and O-5's+.

And yes. Drying your blade extends the life of it. That being said, I probably only change blades every two weeks or so... and then the last one I have lasts for a solid two to three months because I can never remember to buy new ones.

Happens to me often as well. That's when I try and use one of the razors my wife uses (a new one) and then I'm like, how the hell does she shave with this piece of crap. I couldn't tell you what kind of razor she uses either.

Couldn't find Sensor blades anymore, so I made the move to Mach 3 a month ago. I like it.

The Onion had a piece a few years ago on the blade wars between Gillette and Schick, including a "quote" from the Gillette CEO:

"I dont care if we have to mount the thing vertically on the handle, ours will have a fifth blade!"

wow, once again proof that i would never have lasted long in the military.

Wow. I expected at least half the responses to be electric. I used to use a blade but always wanted to get an electric. So I treated myself about 7 years ago to a nice Panasonic electric razor. I would not go back to a blade if you paid me. I have not had a razor bump or discomfort in 7 years. It takes me less than 30 seconds to shave if I have shaved in the last 3 days. And my skin is still as soft as it was at 23. And it costs me nothing after the initial expense.

You guys seriously need to check out an electric razor. Dollar for dollar, one of the best investments I have ever made.

i have tried electric razors...they tear my face up and they never seem to get close ebough

and i can shave with a razor in about 2 minutes so time isn't really a factor

Was it a cheap one or years ago? Like I said, mine is 7 years old and still produces a shave close enough that you can't feel stubble afterward. My dad had an electric razor once when I was in high school and that thing was terrible. It really did chew my face up, but I think the technology has come along quite a bit. My dad still refuses to use an electric razor with the monster he used to own. I think some people had bad experiences with them years ago and think they are terrible.

They can be a bit painful if you've gone a while with no shave and the hair is long. If the hair is too long it will grab some and pull instead of cutting. But it's easily taken care of by using the trimmer first (which most electric razors have). Plus it speeds up shaving quite a bit when you've gone a while without a shave.

it was a while back...but i have no real desire to switch at this point....the cost doesn't bother me since a four pack of blades lasts about 6 months....

now, i do save money on haircuts by keeping my own clippers around the house.....i haven't paid for a haircut in a couple of years....the clippers cost me about 15 bucks....

At one time I owned an expensive Norelco that shaved my face ok, but chewed up my neck, I went years without using another electric razor. Then a couple of years ago I bought a cheap Remington and it works beautifully on my face and neck. So different kinds of heads on electric razors makes a difference.

I had the norelco advantage years ago (the one that spits goop on your face while you're shaving) And, as I said, I've got a braun now. I've had a couple others, but none of them ever got me as close as a blade.

Regarding the straight razor, I've got a pocket knife that I've shaved with (kinda like Vin Diesel in "Chronicles of Riddick") It was plenty sharp enough, but the nicks were brutal. It looked like I'd stuck my head in a burlap bag with two cats in it.
