What Is Your Favorite Movie Scene Of All Time?? (3 Viewers)

George C. Scott's opening monologue in "Patton"

and the first twenty to thirty minutes of "Saving Private Ryan"

For A Few Dollars More

If you've seen the movie, then you know the scene. Near the end where Indio is playing the song from the watch and about to off Van Clief, but in steps Clint with the same watch, playing the same song, and makes things even for Van Clief.

The Big Red One

When Mark Hamil shoots the Nazi 23 times who's hiding in the oven used to kill the Jews.

I wish I could have seen the Luke/Vader revelation when it first came out. Sadly, I am too young.

Boy howdy. That brings up a good point. I would love to have all knowledge of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Rocky erased, and be able to watch them all over again.

I was fortunate enough to have not read the LOTR books before I saw the movies. Naturally, I had to read them after watching the trilogy.

I am doing the same with the Harry Potter series. I enjoyed the first few movies, then took the plunge into the books.

1) End of Braveheart, he is being gutted...rather than yield, he screams, "Freedom"

2) Gladiator, when he first is i nthe Colosseum and gathers his men as a unti to take on the Chariots

3) Boromir's death scene in LOTR 1

and that last fight scene in Top Gun with Iceman and Maverick ("Bull**** 10 minutes...this thing will be over in two minutes, get on it!")

Am I too old?

Yes, I'm old school. The airport scene between Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in "Casablanca"'s final minutes is still one of the most impreeesive and my all time favorite movies scenes, especifically during those few seconds when Bergman said "Goodbye Rick. God bless you."

Rick: "Because ...you're getting on that plane with Victor where you belong. ..."

Ilsa: "But Richard no, I, I..."

Rick: "Now you've got to listen to me. Do you have any idea what you've got to look forward to if you stay here? ..."

Ilsa: "You're saying this only to make me go."

Rick: ".....we both know you belong with Victor, you're part of his work -- the thing that keeps him going. If that plane leaves the ground and you're not with him, you'll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life."

Ilsa: "But what about us?"

Rick: "We'll always have Paris... I'm no good at being noble but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world."

Victor: "Are you ready, Ilsa?"

Ilsa: "Yes I'm ready. Goodbye Rick. God bless you."

So many great choices but I go with the final 5 minutes of Casablanca. It is without a shadow of a doubt the single greatest ending to any story ever told in any form in history.

Edit- Wow java, I didn't even notice you said this exact thing one post before me. Color me chagrinned.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet:

The final scene of The Usual Suspects when Verbal Kint walks right out of David Kujan's office, and Kujan finally begins to realize what was really going on with Kint's story.

Mindblowing.

The final scene of The Usual Suspects

yes - agreed

I'd go with the final scene in A New Hope when Hans returns to save Luke from Vader. As a young kid watching this the first time - nothing can top it.

In Happy Gilmore - when Happy thinks of a 'happy place' and Shooter comes into the dream and kisses his woman and grandmother - and of course there is the little guy - that always cracks me up.

Snake on a Plane - the part where the big guy doesn't want the Flight Attendant to suck the poison from his butt.
