Music What Song/Album Are You Listening To? (1 Viewer)

I used to listen to them in the 80's when skating. Was in the punk/hardcore scene back then and totally miss those days!
Grew up into early Metal. Maiden, Sabbath & Priest. Then, later into Metallica, Slayer and heavier thrash bands. Then I got into punk and crossover bands like D.R.I. and Cryptic Slaughter. Some Hardcore, too. Agnostic Front, Biohazard, Sick of it All and later bands like Vision of Disorder.

I listen to pretty much all of that, especially when lifting. Add Power Trip, Kublai Khan TX, Knocked Loose, and some of the newer beatdown hardcore.

Sometimes I will throw on some of the bands that I used to hang with from the NOLA hardcore days. Exhorder, Eyehategod, Soilent Green, Crowbar, etc.

My Wrath of The Lich King Death Knight in WoW is named Exhorder :0056::0056::0056:

Those Soilent Green/Shell Shock/Aftershock/Crowbar shows in Fat City were something else.

I have a clear memory of the Soilent Green singer on stage screaming 'SMOKE MARIJUANAAAA....EAT RAW FLESH' hahahaha

Chromatic Death off of that SOD album is how I taught myself to play fast.

The Anthrax version is great for practicing downpicking too.

Glenn, RIP! Good dude.

Yeah the shows in Fat City along with VFW shows at both Franklin Ave. and Jefferson were always insane!

Power Trip's guitarist just started a new killer band. Fugitive.

Aww, RIP.

Seeing the Cro-Mags at the VFW hall (can't remember which one) taught me a hard lesson about ear protection at shows. They had multiple speaker stacks from the floor to the ceiling on both sides of the stage. It looked cool but the volume in that space was just stupid. My ears rang for several days.

Now I use ear protection at all shows. If I forget some I stuff pieces of napkin in my ears. It can even help the clarity. I saw Russian Circles a few weeks ago and the lower frequencies with my earplugs out kind of muffled the whole sound. Clearer with the earplugs in.

Pretty sure I was at that Cro-Mags show, lol.

Yeah, some shows are ridiculously loud. I’ve been to EDM shows where I’ve been rattled by the sound.

I've been into electronic music for a long time but haven't been to many live shows. A few. Would love to hit some festivals or something sometime. I though about going to see Rezz in PA, but that is a drive and the ticket is 200 dollars. Not that big of a fan lol.

Electronic mixes and live DJ sets are the main reason I have moved from Spotify to Youtube Music. So much awesome stuff that will never make it to Spotify because of copyrights, etc.

Here is a good example. Deadmau5 put out a new song recently that I like a lot. Here are also two cool mixes of the song that will never be on Spotify.

One more post shilling for Youtube Music. This is one of my favorite Kid Cudi tracks, didn't make it to Spotify. And a couple of really good live sets.

Also, although they both use similar quality compression, they are different, and I swear that Youtube Premium just sounds better. Not sure if they're applying a little EQ or what the deal is, but I think it sounds better than Spotify.
