This year his time was very limited. As for his receiving YPC avg. I put that on Sean Payton who uses his talent as a safety net. I don't understand how he is known around the league as fast, great leaper, and great hands, but yet we don't exploit safety or linebacker matchups downfield with him in the slot or out of the backfield. It's always the same crap, swing pass, or drag across the middle. It's the most sickening thing I see on our entire team...and that includes Jason David's play at CB.
I wholeheartedly agree. Reggie has so much potential, but it's not being used to fully benefit the team. Payton is leaving a lot of yards and points on the field with this abuse of talent.

you sound like you get your information from Fantasy Football...its like whatever he does is not good enough, he had 100catches....so you say that aint good enough, he should of had 1,200yrds off the catches?....you need to be mad at Coach Payton not Reggie, he dont call those plays...you dont have to like the guy and you can want him to be a reciever all you want, but your reason's are lame and unfounded, 1100 yrds is not average, it just isnt great...and you want Reggie to be great and until he becomes "great' your gonna continue to say he cant do it...correct? The dude is going into his third year and you comparing him to Marshall Faulk? of course he wont stack up DUH! just say your dissapointed he wasnt better coming into this league as you thought he would be...its ok.
1) Who said that I am mad at anyone?
2) Those numbers are average no matter who the player is. It's not a knock on Reggie's talents at all. He's not being used properly. Instead of these stupid short route they need to use him downfield more (like a receiver) to use his strengths (agility, speed) against slower, less quick players instead of his weaknesses (breaking tackles) against bigger, stronger players. However, I recall that you were against that. Are you changing your mind now?

Great > Average > Bad

Not great is either average of bad. You can choose which, but you're nitpicking of synonyms is ridiculous, just like your arguments that you keep following me around with.

In what bizarro world is 161 catches for 1156 yards acceptable? That 7 yards a catch. That's not even average; It's horrible. The only thing worse is 312 carries for 1100 yards (3.2 average). I guess you're right. He's not average.

He's horrible.

I agree with the way he is being used "safety valve" as Moral99 put it, is not getting the best out of him, but thats not Reggie Bush's fault....he needs to improve his skills as a runningback, but everything thing else (7.0ypc) is on the coaches...they just wanna give him the ball as quickly as they can and "hope" he makes a play...not very imaginative.

I finally get to agree with meily. That is why I brought up Reggie in the slot. I want as many playmakers and gamebreakers on the field at once as possible. Brees, Colston, Reggie, Deuce (or PT), Meachem (I hope). Add in any old TE and you've got some guys who are pretty tough to defend. More WR plays specifically for Reggie would make me happy. I know he is a RB, and I know it takes longer for a player like him to acclimate to the NFL than a bruiser like Jamal Lewis or some other huge back, but, watching Reggie take a handoff is painful. He's gonna cut before he hits the LOS. He needs to cut after. Watch a video of Adrian Petersen. His first cut is when he is juking the saftey, not Lb's and definatly not DT's and DE's.

You are 100% right about Petersen waiting to make a move. One glaring difference though. AP has time to wait. There are giant holes to run through for him. Vikings O-line is amazing at blocking for the run. Our O-line can't run block for nothing. The only reason P Thomas had a good game (that's right, just 1 game) is because the bears did not game plan against him. Bush is constantly the focus of every defensive scheme in every game. Noone can deny that.

I agree firecrotch (sp?). The bears didn't have to gameplan for Pierre. And he torched them. If they had to gameplan for him, Brees would have torched them. With any kind of defense, we would beat them either way. That is all I want. Wins. Our wonderful discussion about the running game means jack squat if the D doesn't improve.
