Why C.J. Stroud is a better pick than Bryce Young. (2 Viewers)

Some of the questions on Stroud are what he will do when he doesn't have an O-line and WRs that are much better than the opposition they are facing.
When he gets more pressure in the NFL and his WR's aren't beating the DB's like a drum, how will that translate?

Young can succeed as an NFL passer, but it will depend solely on how Carolina builds around him. They have to do a better job of building a better overall team than they did with Cam Newton—my two cents.

Stroud bombed the S2 test, which has become more heavily accepted as a measure of processing time and decision making.

Young aced it.

This is some interesting additional information (percentile scores below):

Ha! You beat me to it. Great minds.

Apparently Brock Purdy had the highest S2 in last year’s class. Burrow and Mahomes were extremely high.

From what the data has shown, a high score doesn’t guarantee success. But a low score almost guarantees a bust.

It will be interesting to see whether it impacts his draft stock, he's been the consensus 1A/1B guy with Young for awhile now. I've been hearing about the Texans taking defense at #2 and then addressing QB with #12, I have a hard time seeing the Colts pass on Stroud at #4 if that happens. If they do and he starts sliding, the S2 test has definitely made it's mark on the draft process going forward.

From what Daniel Jeremiah said yesterday, Houston just isn’t universally sold on Stroud. So it may make more sense for them to grab someone like Anderson and then try to use 12 to jump up and get Levis or Richardson (or maybe take Hooker later).

Could also be smoke because they want someone who wants Anderson to trade with them. Plenty of that going around.

I just have a gut feeling Young will be Tua and Sam Bradford rolled into one. It is not just his height, he has a slight build, that will be hard to keep weight on.
Yeah to me you can be short or slight, but both? That's cause for pause when you're drafting a guy #1 or #2 overall. Most of the short QBs I've seen have success were built pretty solid like Drew and Russ. Young is Doug Futie small.

Only thing that scares me about Shroud is Harrison Jr. Is as close as it gets to being unguardable in the college game. Sometimes he would just toss one up and Harrison would make a super human play on the ball.
