Why C.J. Stroud is a better pick than Bryce Young. (1 Viewer)

I read an article about this test and it seems to be the gold standard.
To be fair to the players there seems to be some doubt as to the accuracy or completeness of the leaked numbers. Apparently the test is made up of 8 or 9 different sections and these numbers might only be one of the sections.

I haven’t seen anything saying those results aren’t true either.

From what Daniel Jeremiah said yesterday, Houston just isn’t universally sold on Stroud. So it may make more sense for them to grab someone like Anderson and then try to use 12 to jump up and get Levis or Richardson (or maybe take Hooker later).

Could also be smoke because they want someone who wants Anderson to trade with them. Plenty of that going around.
I really think Anderson is the safest pick at the top 3.

Thank you for proving my point. Drew (though talented) wasn't durable early, and had mixed results. Btw......Drew weighed in at 6'1" and a legit 213lbs, a full 3 inches taller. And a few pounds heaver than Young.
Sorry but Drew was quite durable, he missed very few games until the last couple yrs

Drew is the anomaly anyway, but show me the guys killing it at below 6' under 200lbs.......................I'll wait!!!
Doug Flutie was smaller than either Drew or Young and he had a pretty good career, I guess he's an anomaly too. Look, I don't think any QB in this yrs draft is worth a top 5 pick, but it is for sure better than last yrs crop of QB's but nowhere as good as next yrs, If I had the #1 pick, I'd do just what the Bears did even if I needed a QB, trade back

If I'm Houston,I'm either taking Anderson or trading back a few spots. I wouldn't take a QB in the first 2 rds. Chances are they will have a high pick next yr, probably top 8. I'd see if I could trade my 2nd for a first next yr and have a shot at Caleb or Maye who I think are worthy of a top 5 pick

IMHO Bryce young was listed at 6ft, but was really 5'10". He played at a weight of max 195lb at Alabama w/ one of the very best O lines in college football. He then went on to weigh in at 205lb at the combine, but would not weigh in at his pro day. Leading teams to suspect he couldn't keep his weight up at 205lb for his pro day. Young isn't built like Kyler Murry, he doesn't have his weight centered in his butt and legs, which allows QBs to be durable in the NFL.

I see way too much risk to reward in this pick, so high in the draft. C.J. Stroud is 6'3" 214lb w/ similar talent as Young, but has the size to start early and go through the growing pains of starting on a bad team. I don't think we can say that about Young.

IMHO neither are worth a top 5 pick, but teams will over draft them anyway. In fact this class isn't much better than last years crop. The QB postion didn't get any better this yr, but the teams got a whole lot dumber.

Bryce Young QB

Alabama • Jr • 5'10" / 204 lbs

C.J. Stroud QB

Ohio State • Jr • 6'3" / 214 lbs
Couldn't disagree more as far as talent goes.

CJ had arguably the greatest group of receivers in NCAA history to throw to. (Marvin Harrison Jr, Garrett Wilson, Olave, JSN, etc). He also had an entire offensive line that's going to play on Sundays. (Including both tackles top 2round picks).

CJ also struggled MIGHTILY the few times he was under pressure. He will not have the same level of talent disparity around him he did at Ohio.

Young while small, is a fantastic QB. Im really, really hoping the Panthers don't select him.

I'm glad the Saints didn't have to make this choice and I love that the Panthers traded up to do so. Young and Stroud played the part in college but Young's height is a red flag and Stroud's S2 score is a red flag. Meanwhile Richardson and Levis have accuracy issues and sounds like Levis has some other baggage as well.

Drew isn’t 6’1” though. We are the exact same height. I’m 5’11 1/2”

I wish I was 6 and above but not.

This is from 3 hours ago.

This is a quote for that Yahoo link...

“That is like red alert, red alert, you can’t take a guy like that. That is why I have Stroud as a bust. That in conjunction with the fact, name one Ohio State quarterback that’s ever done it in the league.”

Yeah I get it with Stroud. if you understand what this test is then yeah, not great. But to say he isn't going to be successful because he went to Ohio State, I have never understood that argument. LSU didn't produce all world NFL QBs until they did. Guys like Burrow are super rare and no college is pumping out All Pro QBs on a yearly basis. Oh yeah, Burrow went to Ohio State too though.

But anyway, I don't care where you went to school, scoring a straight up 18 on the S2 cognition test is cause for pause. I'll go with Young based on those scores. Damn the size. I'll take my chances with the lil fella.
