N/S Why has it taken so long for Caleb Williams to be exposed as a Bust? Smells like the Jets Zac Wilson. (2 Viewers)

Caleb is the best QB talent in this draft. I think MHJ is the best overall, but Caleb is clearly the best QB. If anything Drake's physical size is doing a lot of the heavy lifting with regard to his lofty draft stock, but Caleb is THE guy. It's unfortunate that he'll probably end up in Chicago instead of Washington, but I still think he'll end up doing well there in spite of their gross mishandling of QBs.

Actually, they possibly could but we only judge a lot of people from the result of the funked-up situation that they are in. Both Leaf and Russell needed structure that neither team would provide. Matter of fact, we know that Russell was facing an uphill battle the moment he was drafted, because he was Kiffin's choice; he was Al Davis'. But again, we judge on the end and not the journey. Look at what Bill Walsh did for Steve Young, who was one of the worst starting QBs in Tampa Bay history.
C'mon Young played a total of 19 gms in TB with NO talent and Leeman Bennett as HC , That's worse than a JD Roberts-coached Saints team. Sorry bud but your theory that every QB can be great in the right system does not hold water, unless like I said if every player on the offense is an all pro and Walsh was HC and Belichick was DC and Lombardi was quality control And maybe Coryell was passing game coordinator. And even then Russell and Leaf would have been duds. The QB position is played between the ears not with the arm and legs

It's easier for me to list QBs that were written off until they got into the right situation than it is for you to name QBs that thrived in horrible situations. And the QBs this day and age is less about "between the ears" and more about the arm and leg because the offenses are being simplified and the scheme is doing the heavy lifting due to the lack of development. And that Tom Brady saying this..lol.

I’ve had high school basketball players cry with their parents in the stands or outside the locker room after losing a playoff game or big game.

A lot if those players wouldn’t be much younger than Williams was when he cried with his mom.

I never viewed it as a red flag or anything.
Which one of those players were you about to give a 4 yr $150 million contract to?

(Correction) Rookie deal is for only $41 million. So, his 5th yr is where the money kicks in.

None, but like I said, I didn’t consider it any type of red flag. It’s not something that would stop me from giving them a contract.

I don’t really understand why you view it as such a negative thing.

I get how you feel, and trust me. Some other team will eagerly give him that contract. It's not the only reason I have reservations.

As if that makes any difference. So, they get to stop being human when you pay them millions? Weird standard, but hey, if it helps you sleep better at night I guess.

I sleep fine. I guess we will have to wait and see how it turns out.

None, it a rookie deal. If they don't work out you can decline the 5th year like Baker or let them go like Jameis.
Yes, that is true. It isn't the out right bust that kills a Team, it is not knowing what to do w/ say, a Justin Fields 5th yr. option.

I am kinda with OP. I think this dude is just screaming draft bust. I was wrong about CJ Stroud so I could be wrong again…but I would be nervous if my team needed a QB and was within striking distance in this draft.

Some years you have a draft where the whole world thinks a guy will go first overall and then the day or week before the draft, all of a sudden the story shifts. Remember when Aaron Rodgers’s was going first overall? I could see a drop like that with this guy.

His all world elusiveness and accuracy are great, but he runs a true college system that’s not historically great for transitioning to the NFL, and he has shown no ability to process and play in the pocket.

I feel similarly about Pennix.

He hasnt shown anything in College that screams top level NFL Caliber player. Im sure the Bears will draft him thinking otherwise, and we know how the QBs do that the Bears draft. Jayden will be the prize for the first round for whoever drafts him. Other QBs will be nothing worth looking at 2 years from now.

I knew CJ would be successful, the one I knew who would blow was Bryce Young, picture these players doing what you see in film on an NFL field, some you see being successful, some not, some will be a ??. I knew Bryce was going to stink because alot of his Alabama film at times looked Cringey because of how much he was able to get by with that I knew would never fly in the NFL. Jayden will be alot like Lamar or even a Michael Vick, but I believe in the end, Jayden will be known as Jayden as he forges his own path like Vick and Lamar is doing. Caleb I believe will be a bust, thats a given if Chicago drafts him. Does that mean Justin Fields is better? Justin will do better wherever he goes, I will say that much, but elite status remains to be seen.

Caleb Williams, while possessing all the athletic traits of a quarterback any NFL team would want, if I was a GM or owner, I would stay far, FAR away from him. He is giving me Ryan Leaf vibes. Again, all the physical traits just immature.

Caleb Williams - "I don't think that I'm not going to be No. 1. I think I put in all the hard work, all of the time, effort, energy into being that."

Jayden Daniels - "Just a blessing to be in the conversation for the number one pick."

One is cocky and the other is confident. Confidence is the trait I want. Caleb has already issued a list of team he would play for. What?!? Watching his antics this past year i.e. climbing in the stands and crying behind a towel when USC lost shows me immaturity and vanity. He is showing that he is unable to handle adversity. He is used to winning and being told he is the best yet once the losing happens in the NFL and it will happen, he will crumble. Another top pick, Vince Young was like that. Amazing athlete but could not handle the losing and then the criticism that comes with it.

Caleb Williams, to me, is amalgamation of Ryan Leaf, Vince Young and Cam Newton. I'd stay away.......
