N/S Why has it taken so long for Caleb Williams to be exposed as a Bust? Smells like the Jets Zac Wilson. (1 Viewer)

I'm not going to say that Williams or Maye will be a bust but I'm only sold on Daniels.

Daniels has enough good performances to show that he'll be good.

Maye looked good when I watched him but I didn't see enough to convince me that he's the #2 or #3 pick.

Williams looked bad every game that I watched and I watched a lot.
Biggest concern with Daniels is his size/build. Can he hold up to the beating in the NFL?

Maye is only 21, Williams 22, and JD5 being the oldest at 23. If you give Maye 2 more years how different would he look? Same goes for Williams.

JD5 also had the best supporting cast of the 3 BY FAR with the best WR duo in all of cfb.

Part of projecting a QB at the next level is performance it's also tangible traits. Maye has an elite arm, prototypical size, good athleticism, and has shown the ability to place the ball on all 3 levels.

I’m no expert but I don’t think he will be a great pro QB either.

Biggest miss I’ve had in my years of fandom is Stroud. I thought he’d bust all day, as all other Buckeye QB’s have.

I don’t think Williams will be a good NFL QB but there’s no way he will be as bad as Wilson.

Daniels and Maye are way better prospects than Williams. I understand, that no team is going to pass on Williams if the Bears don't take him. He is the kind of bust that really sinks a team.

Because he will fail because of his poor emotional development, not athletic ability. Everyone seems to be in a hurry to crown him, but he is just so avg. at times. I wouldn't want him at all in the 1st rd. He really reminds me of Zac Wilson of the Jets. I'm not very good at picking the next great QB, Purdy, Storud etc. They were never on my radar. But, I can spot a high 1st rd bust a mile away.

If you disagree, I invite your reply, and reasons why.
This post is not gonna age well
Geez

Name one player that is emotionally unstable that has succeeded at the QB position?
If you are saying that Williams is emotionally unstable that is a ridiculous assumption on your part. You don't know this kid. You are a FAR outsider peeking in through whichever report you are reading. That's simply irresponsible

As someone that has watched VERY little game film on him, I tend to agree with you based to the attitude and entitlement that the media presents with him. I’ve never met him. Could be totally wrong and I totally acknowledge that everything that I know about him has been filtered through people that are trying to paint a picture about him.

The case I heard against this is that negative reports stem from leaks from other teams that are trying to create a scenario where he drops in the draft. Big decision, like all draft pics, to make if you are the Bears.
Typical, you watch VERY little film on CW and you base your agreement on the way the media presents him SMH

I like Caleb. I've seen him do dynamic things and the talent is unquestioned. He has some growing up to do because he has been pampered. The NFL will make him grow up and he will adapt. I am quite sure Caleb is a solid citizen. He could be the next Mahomes.

I think one thing that has held him back was being one of the 1st high profile NIL QB's, and, being tied to the hip of Lincoln Riley. His coach has only really shown himself to be a money mercenary and offensive glory coach. The D just hasn't been there, at OU or USC. The Cotton Bowl loss to Tulane probably really soured the USC fanbase on both of them, paired with being tied for 4th in the Pac with an 8-5 record this past year.

Here's a yahooie article from two weeks ago that covers the "concerns."

Wow , I agree with you , hell has frozen over

LOL , you can't tell when someone is good but you CAN tell when they will bust. SMH. Why am I not surprised. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE can say for sure right now if CW will be a bust. But I'll defer to some one that knows WAY , WAY and I do mean WAY more than you ( And I ) I'll listen to what this guy says 1st

This is an even bigger problem to me than the supposed character concerns:

I think he's a great talent but he's not victor webanyama either as an infallible prospect.

This is where I'm at in regards to evaluating his play. Particularly last year, it seemed when the going got tough he didn't rise to the occasion at all. Granted as someone living in SoCal I get to deal with a bunch of local USCw hype every single year, and as somewhat of a UCLA fan (nowhere near as much as I root for UF though, especially in football, I actually follow them a bit more in basketball but I also don't watch too much college basketball outside the tournament anyways) I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy their yearly collapse.

Talent wise though he's got the physical tools and I have no idea how much his production in those big games is on coaching and/or just being outmanned by the opposing defenses as opposed to his actual decision making. I will say that think he's a much more polished project than Anthony Richardson and he ended up going number 4 overall. I'm not sure I would spend the number 1 overall on him but I'm also not an NFL talent scout nor will I be sitting in on the interviews they put all of these guys through.

He really reminds me of Zac Wilson of the Jets.
The one he makes me think of is JaMarcus Russell. Off the charts athletic ability, but immature and without good football instincts. Just my read on him. And like JaMarcus, I don't expect him to do well.

For the record (just so later people can laugh at how wrong I was), I don't think much of Maye, either. Way too inaccurate and inconsistent for my taste.

Ya. I kind of said that. That was the whole premise of the point I was making based around media shaping the opinions of people.
