Why is everyone so scared of the Patriots? (1 Viewer)

I'm not ....why do you generalize so much?

I think the main reason is that they are the ONLY team left on the schedule that is any good. They are the only team left on the schedule that has a real (as opposed to fluke) shot at knocking us off. Sure, we could still lose any of the 6 games remaining, but against the Falcons, Skins, Cowdung, Bucs, and Panthers, losing would be a fluke because none of them are very good. The Pats, however, are a good team - not outstanding like in 2007, but a good team nonetheless - and supposedly motivated to keep us from matching their regular season undefeated record.

That's why. I think we've got all the pieces to smash them, of course, but it is the NFL and anything can happen. We'll see. I agree with the OP, though. Even with the threat of Wes Welker and Randy Moss, they should be more scared of us.

i watched them dismantle the 10-0 colts for 56 minutes..

maroney with fumble issues and in my opinion got robbed of the first down to ice the game.

granted that was probably there best game played this year. but they looked good.

not scared at all.. I can't wait to beat them and really get respect. 10-0 should be respected, but as usually you really only hear about the 10-0 colts. When we take out the pats then the respect will come.

That's funny, because I watched the Colts dominate the 2nd half. I also watched Peyton Manning eat their secondary alive.

Brees will get his playing this team. You can write it down.

We won 10 games in a row. Any Team that wins 10 is a good/great One. No turnovers and we will win. They should be scared, not us.

Not scared of Pats for a number of reasons. D will get to Brady. Pats D will not get to Breesus. Saints have more weapons on Offense. Greer will be back and he has played against Moss a few times. Sharper will help out. Saints have a better running game. Last but not least its in the Dome. I think the Vikes are a bigger threat. AP and Favre and great D with pass rush. Plus if we play the Vikes it will be for the NFCC. Pats are just one regular season game. However Pats are a really good team. If and I say If Saints lose the turnover battle against the Pats it will be very very difficult to beat them.

Scared?
No!

Concerned?
Yes, because our secondary is beat up.

It's going to come down to STOPping the run game altogether and GW pressuring the snot out of Brady - CAN'T allow him to find a rhythm. They will try to control time and keep Brees off the field. That has to be stopped. Then...our run game is going to HAVE to click to use time in our favor. I hope Brotha Bell gets a load of touches. Dude is going to go insane like his first two games of the season before getting hurt. The Pat's are going to get a dose of BELL'S HELL. BACK in BLACK, Baby!

Because they arguably have the best QB in football, the best coach in football,
a pair of the best receivers in football, 1 of the best OL's in football, and a
very competent defense.

Aside from that, I'm not worried.

None of that matters. It's about the best TEAM in the NFL in 2009, and that my friend, is not the Patriots this year thus far. I would respect them like I respect the Giants and Steelers. They are a top notch team, but highly beatable.

This is not the "biggest" game in Saints history by any means. Exciting yes, but so was the MNF against the clowns.

the patriots have wes welker and randy moss

both are top 10 if not top 5 WR's in the nfl right now

plus tom brady who is a top 3 QB

and a amazing offensive line

id say thats why people are scared of them.

and all of this is trumped by their weak defense..............light it up Brees!

Seems to me, they should be scared of us. How the hell are they going to cover a mixture of Shockey, Colston, Meachem, Henderson, Reggie, Thomas (Both Pierre and David), and Bell on the field at the same time? How the hell are they going to run on Ellis, once he comes back? How the hell are they going to protect Brady? We're getting lots of pressure and sacks now...

I think we match up MORE than well against them.

When the NFL creates a rule based on a single event that happened to your quarterback, your team deserves to be feared.
