With the 10th Pick in the 2025 draft, the Saints select? (39 Viewers)

I like AK as the vet RB in the room, especially for Jeanty who is following AK in how he takes care of his body, etc. I prefer AK shift to a Kevin Faulk/James White role or even more as a slot WR. He can run the routes like a WR and he's a lot more sturdy for going across the middle than anyone else we have for the slot. Having him in a hybrid role will extend his career and take advantage of his playmaking ability. It could also allow him to be effective later in the season as we've seen the wear and tear through a seaon makes him less effective and available late in the year.

He likely won't make it as a wide receiver. Corners are far more effective in coverage then linebackers and most safeties which is who usually picks up the RB out of the backfield. It's one thing to occasionally line your RB out wide. It's another to do it always and expect them to beat Corners in coverage. It's one reason why Hamilton is such a hyped up Safety. He can cover like a corner and has single handedly shut down RB's passing games before which allows the Ravens defense to stay in a formation matching CB's to WR's. Where as some teams when facing a pass catching RB will put an extra DB on the field, but a simple audible to a run play by the offense puts that formation at risk.

I agree, so leave him at RB, but use him like NE used Kevin Faulk and James White or we used Bush/Sproles. I'd like for him to retire a Saint and get as many years as possible before that. He'd have more years or more effective years if he is utilized more in the passing game and less between the tackles. People are so worried about adding Jeanty to a perceived deep RB room, but the RB room is not deep at all and Jeanty/AK can coexist very effectively in the same backfield.

Can you really count on K Miller to play in 17 NFL games without getting hurt? That goes for AK too. Williams will be asked to play somewhere else next year. Don't believe our Rb room for next year is complete

You can't count on any RB to play 17 NFL games without getting hurt. When RBs do that, it's a rare achievement given the pounding they take. And, it also takes a lot of luck.

We do need to add another young RB. I'm just not sure the value is there taking a RB in the first when there are going to be a lot of guys available after the first that would seriously upgrade out depth. We need to have a stable of RBs like Green Bay has. Especially if we are going to run a similar offensive scheme next year.

Although I will say that CEH is still young and according to Underhill he really wants to stay with the Saints. He might be a good cheap option and insurance if Miller continues to get hurt.

This probably won't happen, but if Cam Ward falls to 10, do you take him or try to get a ransom for the pick?

I feel like we should be able to get a 2nd or a 3rd and trade down to the late teens early 20s and draft Tyler Warren.

Then we could target an Edge like Jackson or Ezeiruaku or a WR like Evan Stewart or Tre Harris at 42 or Maybe OG Donavan Jackson falls that far.

If we got Tyler Warren, any of the ones above, and added an extra 2nd or 3rd, that's a great first 2 rounds in my book.

In an average draft, there’s usually around 12 to 15 bonafide true blue chip 1st RD talents. Which means picking in the top 10 usually means youre getting a franchise level talent at the position youre drafting. Unfortunately, this isnt one of those years.

This year, 2025, literally has like 8, maybe 10 of those guys. So if youre picking where we are, or in the teens, youre settling on a propsect who in anyother year would more than likely be a Day 2 guy. That being said, this draft happens to be loaded w/positions that we desperately need, EDGE, IDL, IOL, SAF, RB, TE & possession WR. The true value of this draft is between pick 25 & 100. Im pretty sure the FO & whoever we bring in as our HC will be well aware of this fact.

I would personally trade back multiple times to try & land us in the 20s, or maybe even out of the 1st RD completely. Loading up on Day 2 & future draft picks would/should be the focus. This way, we’d be picking at the strongest point of this draft, all while arming us w/more premium picks in the future to reload our roster w/talent.

But…if we end up picking where we are, id go w/Josh Simmons OT Ohio St. Had Simmons not been injured all season, he’d be the top rated OL in this draft & a legit top 5 prospect. Media outlets have been reporting that Simmons is recovering ahead of schedule & he’s projected to be cleared by the start of training camp. Drafting him would allow us to either move Tali back to RT, or have Simmons compete w/Penning to start on the right side.

The ultimate dilemma for my cloud of preferred players if they're all available at 10, if indeed the pick stays at 10....

--Mason Graham
--Ashton Jeanty
--Kelvin Banks
--Tet McMillan (probably gone before 10, though)

Another poster mentions trading down, possibly for Ty Warren, and I'd like that move, too, despite our needs in the main trench positions.

I think Simmons will slide because of the injury. After Campbell Banks and Williams are off the board, I dont think anyone else will use a 1st on an OT. Simmons might even be available when we draft at 42. I like him as a prospect, but I think the knee injury will really effect his draft position. I wholly agree with the trade back strategy though, and agree there is lot of value in day 2.

You only trade down if Mason Graham is off the board.

Once you get out of the Top 10 this year the drop off is larger & more drastic than normal..
If you trade back out of the 9th or 10 pick this year you should be asking a higher price than past years!

I like the cascading/waterfall of accumulating picks by trading down multiple times in the 1st. If we came out of this draft with 12-14 players before UDFA, that would completely remake the roster. Seattle did this a few years back, they went into a draft with a few picks and came out with like 12+ IIRC.
