With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (9 Viewers)

Sooner or later we gotta hit on an edge rusher pick, right? I feel like DL whether its edge or interior will be the pick at 10. I do feel like we almost have to draft a guard in the 2nd.

I wouldnt be mad if we took a TE, WR, RB, or safety in the first two rounds. Not worried about how smart it is to draft a RB or TE in the high first. We need young talented playmakers. If we have to use a premium pick to acquire them, then so be it.

My peraonal pick would be Graham.
I don’t watch much college but If we draft a lineman on either side they need to be ready to make a impact in the first year in my opinion no more developmental players

I’ll choose te over wr but rb is first to me because of the uncertainty at qb and we need to control the ball better next year with the old defense plus I feel it translates well for the most part
Idk, we're gonna get at least a couple more seasons with AK, and he's proven he's still got it. And I think we're OK at RB in the near term. We do need to find another RB, but I don't think it's as pressing as WR/TE.

I hear you bro but I feel like that’s partly how we got in this predicament by waiting to replace players before the end is there Ak is getting older and he had a decent year but nothing spectacular and kendre to me is a lost cause

Wr would be nice but we need a qb Carr did nothing to instill confidence to me and we probably don’t draft a qb unless we grab Milroe late
I’ll take a solid te over wr just because it’s a easier target and probably will be a atleast decent blocker and we could use that for sure

There are enough needs that outweigh taking a RB @ 10 this yr. Yes Jeanty may be a very good prospect. AK would have been a pro-bowl RB this yr if he did not miss these last games it would have been his 1st 1000yd rushing yr. and he has at least 2 more yrs at that level. Plus we still don't know what we have in Miller.

Carr is by far not our biggest issue. Also there is no QB in this yrs draft I would draft with ANY of our picks especially Milroe

Kendre miller can do that if you ask some here lmao it’s ridiculous we have no playmakers let’s grab a oline so we can hand it off to ole kamara/ slow as dirt or throw it to our no route running receivers and watch them get blasted off the field
Take the home blinders off we can’t afford to just draft o line men and hope the develop we need players who we know what they do and they do it well
Can you really count on K Miller to play in 17 NFL games without getting hurt? That goes for AK too. Williams will be asked to play somewhere else next year. Don't believe our Rb room for next year is complete

I was being sarcastic bro Dennis Allen was right about kendre I think he’s a j.a.g
Kamara is old and it’s his time to play the mark / duece role and be a productive vet showing the young star the ropes Ala jeanty it’s time for some new juice

I like AK as the vet RB in the room, especially for Jeanty who is following AK in how he takes care of his body, etc. I prefer AK shift to a Kevin Faulk/James White role or even more as a slot WR. He can run the routes like a WR and he's a lot more sturdy for going across the middle than anyone else we have for the slot. Having him in a hybrid role will extend his career and take advantage of his playmaking ability. It could also allow him to be effective later in the season as we've seen the wear and tear through a seaon makes him less effective and available late in the year.

Also have CEH in the mix as well for next year. However, guys like Kaleb Johnson, Cam Skattebo, Ollie Gordon, and Omarion Hampton could be very good options at some point on day 2 of the draft (potentially early day 3) rather than spending the 10th overall pick on a RB.

Graham makes me nervous. Time and again we've seen these awesome 3 tech DT's enter the draft and didn't meet expectations while the NT they played with in college went somewhere else and suddenly everyone on that line is performing better.

So, its a very fair question to ask, how much of Graham's success can be attributed to Kenneth Grant, and would Graham be as successful without a NT (because we don't have one). I'm afraid the answer is "he wouldn't meet expectations of a top 10 pick".

One thing I've noticed, is that you can spend top 10 picks on Tackles, and if your Center sucks, your line is going to still suck. Likewise the defensive line seems to be similar with NT's.

He likely won't make it as a wide receiver. Corners are far more effective in coverage then linebackers and most safeties which is who usually picks up the RB out of the backfield. It's one thing to occasionally line your RB out wide. It's another to do it always and expect them to beat Corners in coverage. It's one reason why Hamilton is such a hyped up Safety. He can cover like a corner and has single handedly shut down RB's passing games before which allows the Ravens defense to stay in a formation matching CB's to WR's. Where as some teams when facing a pass catching RB will put an extra DB on the field, but a simple audible to a run play by the offense puts that formation at risk.

I agree, so leave him at RB, but use him like NE used Kevin Faulk and James White or we used Bush/Sproles. I'd like for him to retire a Saint and get as many years as possible before that. He'd have more years or more effective years if he is utilized more in the passing game and less between the tackles. People are so worried about adding Jeanty to a perceived deep RB room, but the RB room is not deep at all and Jeanty/AK can coexist very effectively in the same backfield.

You can't count on any RB to play 17 NFL games without getting hurt. When RBs do that, it's a rare achievement given the pounding they take. And, it also takes a lot of luck.

We do need to add another young RB. I'm just not sure the value is there taking a RB in the first when there are going to be a lot of guys available after the first that would seriously upgrade out depth. We need to have a stable of RBs like Green Bay has. Especially if we are going to run a similar offensive scheme next year.

Although I will say that CEH is still young and according to Underhill he really wants to stay with the Saints. He might be a good cheap option and insurance if Miller continues to get hurt.
