With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (42 Viewers)

I would like any 2 of Fannin-BGSU, Loveland-Mich, Helm-Texas, or Velling of Mich St. I would prefer trade back and take Grant-Dt-Mich in the 13-16 range, if we took Warren I would understand the selection.
Yeah sign me up for Fannin in the 2nd round. Guy is going to be a weapon as a receiving threat in the NFL. Great playmaking ability with the ball in his hands, good route runner that consistently gets open, and arguably the best hands in the draft.

As would Kenneth Grant.
I just don't know if you take Kenneth with the 10th pick in the draft...

He is a player that you could trade down & select.

But you never know...he might end up being the better NFL player.

I did a few mocks to trade back and target Grant. It's a draft strategy that could be very beneficial. Trade back from 10 to the mid teens and pick up additional picks in the 2nd/3rd round of the 2025 draft, then trade back from the mid teens to 20ish and pick up more draft capital. Select Grant at 20ish and the load up on talent in the 2nd and 3rd round with talent from the gold mine of prospects all at positions of need in that range.

I think jeanty stronger lol I think the saints go that direction
I wasn’t clear…I agree that Jeanty is stronger. The day he enters the league I think he could easily be the strongest RB in the NFL (especially through the legs). I meant to say that I thought that Bijan was the stronger (or better) prospect…because I saw him as fail proof because he was so well rounded. I love Jeanty as well, but I wonder if he’ll be a Kenneth Walker in the league…a big play human ant that is inconstant, turns the ball over seeking extra yardage, prone to injury, and less useful in the receiving game. But yeah…I love watching him play. He’s the most exciting RB that I’ve seen play since Barkley. I’d take him at #10 gladly

I haven't seen this posted so far this season, so here's the draft pick value calculator for everyone calling to trade back. It's not gospel, but gives you a good idea of what the #10 pick is worth and which teams are the most likely partners as well as what our compensation would be.

The cleanest trade I see would be Seattle targeting a specific player. (doubtful). But their 1st and 2nd round picks equal our first round pick. This would probably work in Madden or one of the many draft simulators, but in the real world, I can't see the Seahawks giving their 2nd to move up 8 spots. Especially in this draft that's not very top heavy. But who knows.

Anyway, here it is.

I’m also not so sure Bijan Robinson is a better receiving threat than Jeanty. As someone who was a big Jeanty fan before his hype absolutely blew up this year, he was very effective as a receiving threat last year. I honestly thought he reminded me a ton of Kamara going into this season and made that comparison in the past.

Obviously Jeanty took his game to another level this year, which was awesome to see. However in doing so, since he was so dominant running the ball and chasing the all time single season rushing record, BSU really neglected to showcase his versatility this year (understandably so). However last year he was a true multi-threat RB. Jeanty’s receiving numbers last year were basically the equivalent of Bijan Robinson’s output in his final 2 college seasons combined. Bijan is a very solid receiving threat for a RB, but Jeanty is every bit as good if not better in that aspect.

If I was rating my top 5 prospects over the past 10 years as they were coming into the draft, I’d rank them:

Christian McCaffrey (I was very high on him in college)
Ashton Jeanty
Saquon Barkley

Bijan Robinson
Jonathan Taylor

1-3 are almost interchangeable as I thought they were all insanely good prospects. 4-5 were also excellent prospects, but just not quite up there as I didn’t think their standout traits were “quite” as elite as the top 3.

Jeanty over Barley is just wild.

Heck Bijan is a much better prospect than Jeanty.

Hardly. They are close enough where they are nearly interchangeable to me.

Nope. He was not. This is coming from someone that’s been a huge Longhorns fan for about 25 years.
I'd prob go

Saquon
Christian/Jeanty
Bijan
Taylor
