With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (3 Viewers)

Not sure that's been materially established. The investment in the Lions O line is demonstrably very significant. As posted multiple times.

They have directly invested three 1st and a 3rd - We are at three 1st and a 2nd...

That's my count... In any case... It's more than enough.... Play better with what's already invested, and get me some playmakers before I literally die from boredom.

This is 100% true. We have invested enough in OL.

We have far more pressing needs than OL.

The indirect investment in another team's former first overall pick is the tiebreaker for me.

Remind us all of those superstars we've been pushing through the turnstile at LG these last two seasons?

Can't have any early round club in the tub players. Fuaga was a rarity from the last few seasons. Need to start finding some day 2 day 3 guys to have another 2017. We need health at wr and speed at linebacker str on the insides of both lines. Tackling at the safety spot. A young cam on the d end would work wonders as well. So at no 9 drew of course. This year it's not a QB however.

Did you watch our OL this year...

I'm not saying to use a 1st round pick but we need an OG that can come in & start.
Our G play was especially bad this year...
I agree our guard play was lacking.

However we will not be replacing Ruiz so really it's only LG that up for grabs. How much of that was due to our center being out and Patrick missing significant time?

Oh - Is it... Cool... Point still stands... We have invested a shirt ton of draft equity there... Quantifiably more so than the Lions - You're tie breaker not-withstanding... Again, unless said LG can get his fat self into the end zone and score some TDs.... I really DGAF. LOL

IMO, the Saints @ 9 need to grab the biggest, nastiest, meanest DT to pair up next to Bresee.. period!.. that'd take pressure off DD to let him focus on being a LB and not a speed bump while opposing RB's have career days.. Been a good moment since the Saints have had that terror in the middle of the D-line, Bresee is nice, but he seriously needs a shutdown running mate..

I know there are a LOT of holes to fill, but that's MY choice.. as the saying goes, games are won and lost in the trenches.. we got Fuaga for the "O", now let's get one for the "D".. trenches gentlemen!

I agree we are stuck with Ruiz for 2025.

Patrick is going to be 32 next year & he is a UFA.

Guess I am not getting an answer to this. Hurts people’s arguments too much?

Another one…Derrick Henry. Where does he now go in a 20/20 foresight re-draft?

The answer is you draft on your grade and you have to trust your board. But you also have to take into account value. If you think or know that other teams have a lower grade on the player, you wait to take him until you think other teams will take him with their next pick before your pick.

This isn't unique to RBs. But the difference is that there are some positions like RB, Guard, LB, and Safety where you can usually get better value after the 1st round. So, to maximize value, it makes sense to trade down if you can get good value for the trade down. If you can't, you take the player.

But, I guess the counter question to you is if you have a pure Guard, can't move to Tackle and can only play Guard, rated at #9 do you take him?

My answer is the same, you look to trade down for good value.

But, it really all depends on how you grade the player. If you think Jeanty, or any other back, is the next LT, Faulk, Sanders, etc., you take him at #9.

Just feels like we can find something at LG. Some form of Patrick, Young, or Saldi.

Whereas we have next to nothing at WR, TE, iDL, Edge if Chase leaves, FS, or SS.

It's obviously not enough because the OL is still bad. They tried the play better approach this year and it didn't work even with two of the best OL coaches in the NFL coaching them.

And I'm sorry to break this to you, but alleviating your boredom is not a particularly sound draft strategy.

I don't think OL is a must this year the way it was last year (but I also think value lined up with that must in Fuaga) but if the right guy is there, you can't exclude drafting an OL in the first if he is BPA. The same is true for any other position. We shouldn't force it, but it's not like we don't need help on the OL or really every other position.
