With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (58 Viewers)

Nope. As mentioned I’m a huge Longhorns fan. Could care less what team he was drafted to. If that were the case then McCaffrey wouldn’t have been my top listed RB prospect in the past 10 years in my previous post on here.
Then I just cannot fathom what you're seeing.

Bijan is better at literally everything except breaking tackles but he's still elite there.

Hes bigger. Quicker. Faster. More Agile. More elusive. Better vision. Better pass catcher. Better route runner.

Also comes into the NFL with significantly less touches.

The exact numbers are 211 less carries, 750 vs 539 and 231 less total touches 830 vs 599. That's not enough for me to be overly concerned. If we drafted Jeanty, we'd still have AK, KM and probably CEH allowing Jeanty to have a lighter load his first year or two in the NFL.

The exact number is actually 231 if you include receptions. Which is almost an entire years worth.

Drafting a running back in the top 10 just to give them a "lighter load" is terrible asset management. Rookie RBs should produce early and while their contract is cheap.

Yeah, I had 231, that's the total touches I posted.

It's not about giving him a lighter load, it's about adding an offensive weapon and taking care of him.

Jeanty is noticeably better in this aspect and runs with more “pop” behind his pads and has better contact balance. Jeanty has the best contact balance I’ve seen in several years.
Hes bigger.
They are both listed around 215lbs
Quicker. Faster.
Nope. Jeanty is faster. Fastest Jeanty has been clocked in a game is 21.7 mph. Fastest Bijan has been clocked in a game is 21.6 mph
More Agile. More elusive.
This is one area I give Bijan a slight edge.
Better vision.

Better pass catcher. Better route runner.
Jeanty has looked better in this regard when both were prospects. Jeanty last year had basically the receiving output of Bijan’s final 2 college seasons. Jeanty was chasing an all time single season rushing record this year and wasn’t used the same he was last year in terms of versatility. He’s already shown to be a very good pass catching threat.
Also comes into the NFL with significantly less touches.
This is true, but means very little to me in the grand scheme of things. Didn’t care that guys like Jonathan Taylor or Barkley had a ton of touches in college either.

Bigger faster to me is more athletic, prospect also includes things like vision, balance, etc.

Also you think Bijan is faster than Jeanty? Idk if I agree with that one.

Also is Bijan bigger? I’m seeing Bijan 5’10 215
Jeanty 5’9” 215

All of Bijans speed scores were in the 80ish percentiles, I think Jeanty might beat those numbers at the combine.
Bijan as a PROSPECT is easily above Jeanty. He's bigger, faster, more elusive, and better pass catcher.

Jeanty has him beat at breaking tackles but everything else goes to Bijan.

Bijan is two inches bigger. I would be shocked if Jeanty runs faster than a 4.46.

Combine feels so far away but we will find out some answers then.

Lol Jeanty and Bijan Robinson are the same weight. Trying to bring up height for a RB like it’s an advantage to be 2 inches taller (while being the same weight). If anything that gives Jeanty the advantage being more compact in this scenario.
How many 5'9 RBs are lead backs on the NFL and how many 5'11 backs are?

I love Jeanty's game. I think he's going to be a good one.

I do not think he's on Bijan's level as a prospect. Jeanty's comp to me is Marshawn Lynch, whereas Bijan has Tomlinson upside. Jeanty could end up the better pro but not the better prospect.

Seriously asking, what does this mean?

Bijan wins in the projected to be better than someone category? lol.

Are you Stretch Armstrong?

Well Ashton Jeanty is listed at 5’9” we will see at the combine. So to answer your question here’s the top 5 all time rushing leader list:

Emmitt Smith- 5’9”
Walter Payton- 5’10”
Frank Gore- 5’9”
Barry Sanders- 5’8”
Adrian Peterson- 6’2”

Currently we could look at the greatest RB in Saints history in Alvin Kamara he measured 5’9.5” at the combine. Or another one of the recent Saints top RB’s Mark Ingram who was also 5’9”.

Of the top 15 RB’s in yards from scrimmage in the NFL this season, 9 of them are shorter than Bijan Robinson.

Jeanty at 5’9” vs Bijan Robinson at 5’11” with both being about 215lbs gives Jeanty the advantage when it comes to size if anything. As mentioned before makes him more compact at the same size, which is likely part of the reason he is so much more effective getting yards after contact.

It means that situations matter. McCaffery with the Panthers is different than McCaffrey with the 9ers. Marshawn Lynch with the Bills is different than Lynch with the Seahawks. Barkley with the Giants is different from Barkley with the Eagles.

The better prospect doesn't always have the better career.
