With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (42 Viewers)

Yeah, I think I'm more mad about Foskey over Branch than I am any draft move since Sullivan. With the others, I can see the rationale. There's no good case to be made for Foskey over Branch. Warm bodies at DE can be found for league minimum every off-season. Potential All-Pro safeties? Not all that common.

Bresee has been a disappointment for me this year. I understand on paper his stats look nice but his neither his play against the run and pass rush win rate are at acceptable levels.

Majority of his sacks came from stunts and coverage sacks. I can't remember the last time he beat his man with a move.

Hopefully he's able to improve as his career goes on, by no means is he at his ceiling.

Foskey on the other hand... just unbelievable how awful of a pick that was. Maybe the worst pick in the last 10 years for the Saints. Branch was RIGHT THERE.
Sure, he did win a lot on stunts but i remember multiple time him beating his man 1 on 1 with spin moves and swim moves. Remember with Cam kicking inside to 3tech so many times it put Bresee at NT. But he def has work to do.

I'll say it again. Drafting OLine is investing in the FUTURE. It's not a win now position. You're building you're team for future success.

No RB/WR/TE would have made a difference with our win/loss record last year as we just lack wayyyy too much talent across the board.

The Rams have a legitimate QB as well. Kind of important piece you're just glossing over. They're also one of the best drafting franchises in the NFL.
This board and just recently ML, said that DC4 is a top 10 QB by the metrics. So explain to me how does this translate into the win column?

Maybe try getting a real HC?
BINGO!!!!
It’s all about coaching and selecting players that will help you win. Not focusing on putting your premium draft picks in 1 or 2 position groups. Shouldn’t be that hard to understand. If a RB can help you win, then take him. If it’s a WR, then take him. Same goes for TE, S, LB, etc. We have drafted for need way too much. It’s appalling

1. I don't believe and the vast majority of this board does not believe Carr is a top 10 QB.

2. We went completely winless without him.

Ewers declared. Basically turned down a 4 million dollar 1 year deal to stay in college. Chances are he’s being told he’ll be a 1st round pick.

Last year the 16th pick signed a 4 year 16 million dollar deal so logic would tell you he’s being told he’ll be a top 12 or so selection.

No way in hell he's going top 12. I'd be shocked if he gets drafted on the first day.

You think the teams drafting care about that?
I wasn’t saying any NFL team gives a rats arse about what he was making in college, however……..

I think he was going in the transfer portal and decided to declare instead. You don’t do that unless you’ve been advised you’ll make more money in the draft. The only way he makes more than the reported 4 million he was being offered (same deal Carson Beck has) is by being a high first round pick. So he’s being advised (his agent, NFL advisory board) that he’s going high.

He's taking a big risk. But I guess there's a team desperate enough to take him. Idk who that would be though.

Ewers is among the several, several "good but not great" QBs available this year. None of them are transcendent enough to warrant a first-round grade. But that's just my opinion. You just know teams will take about three of them in the first round because they draft for need and not depth. We need quality depth in the worst way, so unless we address the trenches in free agency, the pick at 9 needs to be o- or d-line. Doesn't matter which.
