I guess what I am not understanding is what is so important about building your team in a certain order? When did this become a thing?

You build your team in the manner in which the BPA chips fall. You don’t force it.

Some positions have more built in value over others. Running back picked inside the top 10 has almost never lead to successful team building.

Same with safety, center, tight end, and offball linebacker.

It's not to say they can't be impact players, just that you should value other positions more high in the draft.

Not to mention the ONE position we have a playmaker on offense is RB. You generally only play one at a time.

Outside of your fan wishes, how many OL starting positions do you really think are open for us ? In my eyes, I only see one, left guard, and there will be plenty of other opportunities to fill it.

AP was drafted almost two decades ago and the Vikings didn't win anything until they had Farve. He is also a HOF RB. So that's what it takes.

He still turned them from an awful team into a 3 seed with Brad Childress as head coach and Gus Frerotte at QB his second year. Remember saying that doesn't happen?

AK had 900 yards rushing and 400ish yards receiving. That production is not nearly enough to claim he lead us to anything. 2021 was a team year that was lead by our defense which was ranked 4th.

He still carried an inept offense, devoid of talent, with a 2nd string QB who keeps getting benched when given the chance, and Taysom Hill at QB. Marquez Callway was our WR1 that year, and we have two offensive lineman who 1 was already removed from being terrible the other, people currently want gone.. Again, something you said doesn't happen

Awful team? They went from 8 wins in 2007 to 10 in 2008. That's two games.

You have one decent example in the last 20 years. All it took was a first ballot HOF RB. Ridiculously high bar for Jeanty.

Trade back into the late teens and pick up a late 2nd round pick. If anything, this teams needs an infusion of young players to compete for jobs and the draft is the only way we are going to be able to do that.

Ok, well the overwhelming majority of this board says that Oline is the most important position group, outside of QB, yet we have premium picks selected all across our OLine, and have nothing to show for it.
It’s not about what position you draft, it’s WHO you draft.

We have arguably the 2nd most important position in football LT locked down for the next decade. An all pro level center, hopefully a RT for the future as well.

The first two weeks of the year we dominated lead by our OLine before all hell broke loose with injuries.

OL is not a "win now" position group like RB is so you won't see instant success. You build it up the. build off it.

What the saints really need on D is a pass rush and a NT, that will fix most of the defensive issues.

The offense needs a tight end, possesion WR, and some guards.

If any of these are BPA when we pick, its pretty easy.

I'll say it again. Drafting OLine is investing in the FUTURE. It's not a win now position. You're building you're team for future success.

No RB/WR/TE would have made a difference with our win/loss record last year as we just lack wayyyy too much talent across the board.

The Rams have a legitimate QB as well. Kind of important piece you're just glossing over. They're also one of the best drafting franchises in the NFL.

Yeah all we need is edges who can pass rush, iDL who can stop the run, two safety's, and depth at LB.

Our defense might be in worse shape than our offense.

Agreed, it does all start with the line play, a good dline makes life easier on the LBs and DBs. But i agree.

It's incredibly disheartening the amount of draft capital we have spent on the DLine only for it to remain a huge problem.
