With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (36 Viewers)

That's actually not how PFF works. A 50 is an even grade of positive and negative plays.

Anything over 50 means on tape they have more positive than negative plays. So technically Fuaga had far more ups than downs.

Bresee is an example of someone who was far more downs than ups. (218/219 iDL agains the run, literally pathetic)

But let's put everything into perspective here are all the 1st round OTs.

5th overall Alt: 77.6 (Right tackle)
14th overall Fuaga: 65.7 (Left tackle)
20th overall Fautanu: 64.4 (Right Tackle)
7th overall JC Latham: 61.8 (Left Tackle)
11th overall Olu: 61.2 (Left Tackle)
18th overall Mims: 57.8 (Right Tackle)
29th overall Guyton: 49.4 (Left Tackle)

So of all the first round OTs, Fuaga was graded the 2nd highest and the 1st highest rated LT.
Good stuff, like I said being a rookie, playing a new position, while being next to a very bad left guard he basically got baptized by fire and I think he did well. If we drafted Banks who is by far the best pass protecting tackle prospect in this draft, do you put banks at RT, or move Fuaga back to RT and Banks at LT?

i love a lot of guys in that 12-24 range.

I seem to not like the guys thatare the proposed best available at the 9 spot. Mykel Williams makes me want to vomit. "POTENTIAL.... ATHLETICISM... INJURIES"... oh my.

There's about 10 players i'd be fine with taking in the top 10 so im cool with it.

So assuming we need 6 removing Ward, Shadeur and Hunter.

So its no doubters:
Mason Graham
Will Johnson
Abdul Carter

Then then you step down a notch w/ Will Campbell and T Mac.

But then, i'm at a loss. I don't love Mykel or Pearce enough for 9 spot. I just see a batch of 16 guys at this point that can be 9 or 22 and not any value with this pick.

There a chance of Carter falling to 9 and I would be very happy with that.

Didn't say he graded out at a 49th overall out of 81 qualifiers. Fuaga graded out at a 65.7 overall. He was the 57th ranked pass blocker just for reference. In comparison, Joe Alt graded out 23rd overall. There were 48 OT's (RT and LT) that graded out better than he did). He was 49th out of 64 tackles in the league last year. Not sure what grades you're looking at He was very uneven last year and I'm still of the camp he's a better OG or RT.

I'm cool with any of Carter, graham, abdul, johnson, banks, jeanty, Tmac, Pearce,

One of them will be there.

What are you arguing LOL.

He's a rookie playing the 2nd most difficult position in the NFL. He graded out the 2nd highest OT out of every first round selection and the highest 1st round LT from his draft class.

Or option 3, let Banks get his feet under him at LG for a season and be prepared to let Penning walk after next year. By that time you would have a better feel on which player would be better on the left and right side.

I know PFF isn’t the end all be all but Fuaga graded out as the 49th ranked tackle this year. He had far more downs than ups.
WRONG!

Absolutely, that works too.

I'm not a huge Banks fan and definitely do not see him as a top 10 pick so no I would not draft him.

I don't see a LT in this draft worth a top 10 selection. Membou being my favorite of the group but I see him as a better guard as well.

Campbell, Banks, Membou, are all guards to me at the next level.
