With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (8 Viewers)

Yes, our only chance is to trade up and i wouldn't mind if we did. Games are still won on the LOS. It doesn't
matter how loaded you are at the skills position

Look what Aaron Donald did and Jalen Carter is doing for the Eagles currently. We all complain about
not resigning Baun, but he didnt have a Carter here that let him roam and make plays

I don't want to trade up because I think this team desperately needs draft picks to build depth, but you are right that with our DL instead of Philly's DL, Baun wouldn't be as good. And maybe Werner would look better if we had a better DL to keep him clean. But, hopefully we can add a big DT after the first if Graham doesn't fall to #9.

For me, as I ponder this thread, it’s coming down to whether or not Graham is worth using #9. If he’s the next Willfork , Seymour, or Donald (or even Sapp), then he is probably worth #9. We need someone to complement Bresee as a run stopper. I just think that a DT at #9 should be a dominant player.

I think you hope that any player you take at #9 is a dominant player, but of course opinions will differ on who that is. I think the best bets for that that could possibly fall to #9 are Carter, McMillan, Graham,, Will Johnson, and Jeanty. I'd be fine with any of those guys, but the order I want them in is Carter, McMillan, Graham, Jeanty, and Johnson. But, that could change as offseason stuff happens.

watching these TE's make a difference is killing me - i'd gamble on Warren at 9, even if it's not the 'smartest' pick - - hell, if he flames out it'd be no different from our other 1st round failures

Sam Mills once said the real MVP of the dome patrol was NT Jim Wilkes, I trust his opinion over every fan

Run that ball or stop it.

That will determine who wins. The rest is lagniappe

If it comes down to passing Stafford > Hurts

With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? . . . .

some ? player we’ll fixate on over the next four months, but who won’t matter much unless we get the right GM (we’re keeping the guy who has become like family to Gayle) and head coach (to be determined over the next year or so).

I wouldnt start running around saying you were right about Penning. He didn't grade well at all according to PFF. Ranking 75th of offensive tackles means he is more suited as a third string tackle than a starter.

He was 132nd in penalties and 112th in sacks given up. Certainly not a good season at all.
LOL compared to what all of you were saying about him and where he was he's an all-pro. And he's an elite run blocking RT
