N/S WR James Washington requests trade (2 Viewers)

Pass. I think we're good with Little Jordan Humphrey, Juwan Johnson and Easop Winston Jr.
Be extremely lucky to have just one of those 3 being serviceable. Just one. Like 25-30 catches. Just one and we'd be lucky.

Perspective.

Fans most often think their fringe players are much better than they really are.

James Washington is already past that point and his ceiling is much higher than any of the 3 players you noted. Plus he would be playing with a chip on his shoulder coming into this season wanting to prove that he can be the guy. That's who you want to trade for. And he wouldn't cost a lot in terms of what Pittsburgh would ask for in return..

I see that the Saints WR options are "heating up"...first Denzel Mims (NYJ) earlier this week, and now James Washington (PIT) is next up in the conversation. This will get even more interesting as teams trim down to that final 53...stay tuned. We may have to start a WR tracker...
We definitely need to start a WR tracker because a lot of WRs are about to be available and we're going to have a thread for every single one of them.

It's really simple at this point. If they play WR then we need them. We just brought in a guy from the Whipsnakes of the Premier Lacrosse League. That's how desperate the situation is.

I'm down for it. We need a guy that can separate and get down the field.

3rd round pick immediately. Washington would be WR1 immediately. He’s better than all of the receivers that are healthy on this team. Once MT returns, that would be a heck of a tandem. When Ken Crawley doesn’t give up a reception, it may be time to add receivers.
Hopefully you are kidding. He has done nothing to indicate he is worth a 3rd. Anything above a 5th is an overpay.

I like Washington, but he's pretty much similar to TreQuan Smith but with perhaps better ability to win deep and not as strong of a blocker. He might be a Deonte Harris without the twitchiness or ability to return. I'd definitely have Deonte Harris and Marquez Callaway higher than him. I think that he would currently be our #3-4 (but hey...that's still a role).
I love Deonte too but just don’t think he’s gonna be able to stay healthy with an expanded role outside return duties.

Does anyone doubt, notwithstanding the comments from Coach that they like the WR room, that Loomis is checking out available WR's that could help. The key to his search I would speculate is (1) how much will it cost in terms of draft/trade capital and (2) can we fit the guy under our cap - Those things are harder to do with our cap situation, but can be accomplished if they really need some veteran help. For my money I would feel a lot more comfortable going into the season with another quality body at WR.

Historically, Pittsburgh has always had a great depth of receivers going back to the late 70's. James is a good player on team stacked at the WR position.

I'd be curious to see what Pitt would accept in a trade for him if he truly wants out.

I understand how you feel about the player. But, the "deal" is better than the player perhaps. He is on his rookie deal (cap friendly), and he is young and can still grow with a team. Then, at this point the need at WR is so great. We over pay with a 3rd rounder for the "deal" and not as much the player. He is a good player, some one is going to trade for him.

He might be the closest thing to Tyreke Hill in the league...but I completely agree. Let him return kicks and give him 5 or so offensive touches per game. Any more than that and you are probably hurting the team.
