As much as I love Taysom I don't see him getting in

If he had retired 5 years ago with the same stats and records he holds now

Does he get in this year? Is he even on this list?



If Hill was over 30-35 TDs for passing, rushing and passing there would be a better argument but he's not getting there

I also think we only have 2 maybe 3 more seasons of Taysom before he hangs them up
 
As much as we love taysom I also don't know how well known he is to NFL fans in general

There will be another player in the future with Taysom like skills but isn's as good or complete (Taysom Lite?)

But that player will play for Dallas when they return to the playoffs annually and the fans and media will completely slurp this guy and act like they've never seen anything like it

And the "is he Hall of Fame worthy?" conversation will happen all the time in the national sports media and our cries of "don't forget about Taysom!" will fall on deaf ears

I disagree. I think he will get a very strong look, and eventually get in based on his versatility and his impact on the game with that. His stats in any one position don’t stand out. But his body f work with that versatility stand out tramebdiusly. The NFL hasn’t seen a multi-positional player of his caliber in decades.
 
What Merl and WhoDat?Drewdat don't understand is that New Orleans is small market when it comes to the media. If we had a love fest with the media markets, then all the nation would know Taysom Hill's name and accomplishments. Yes, the other teams know who Taysom Hill is, (but still do not know how to defend him) but he is not a common household name. Tiger, Neon Deon, Farve, Manning, Brady, Michael Jordon, Magic, .....I could go on, but if Taysom played for a big market team, no matter how good or bad that team was, the media would hype Taysom up every week, every year and he would be a lock for the hall of fame.

I used names from other sports just to prove a point. I believe someday he should be voted in, but not anytime soon. I like just where he is at.

4. Taysom Hill is now Alone in 9th Place in Total TDs in Saints All-Time Franchise History with 44 so far in his Career. Eric Martin is in 8th Place with 48. Hill needs 4 More TDs to Tie Martin and 5 More to move into 8th Place Alone.

5. Taysom Hill now has 33 Career Rushing TDs, and he is in 5th Place All-Time as a Saint. Dalton Hilliard is in 4th Place with 39 Rushing TDs. Hill needs 6 More Career Rushing TDs to Tie Dalton Hilliard, 7 to move into 4th Place alone.

I think this is the answer. If he were to do something like get a Super Bowl MVP, he’d maybe get in - not first ballot - but during one of those years where there aren’t all slam dunks eligible.

What accomplishments?? The highest accolades you can get in the NFL are as follows: MVP, DPOY, All Pro, and the Pro Bowl. TH has NONE of these. None!!!

To even put TH name up with Tiger, Deon, Farve, Manning, Brady, and Michael Jordan is embarrassing. I'm wondering if this is satire. If you're serious you need to seriously stop drinking the Kool-Aid.

We all love TH but he's a jack of all trades, master of none. Oh and he lost his starting QB job.

He's not even and has never been the best offensive player on any team he's ever been on and you speak his name with the likes of Tom Brady???

Come on guys this is just wayyyy too much.
 
It requires about a decade of dominant play to be in the HOF. Unfortunately, they only recently found his role and he is 34.
 
Devin Hester is 2x All-Decade, 4x All-Pro, and 4x Pro Bowler.

Frank Gifford is 1x NFL MVP, 1x All-Decade, 6x All-Pro, 8x Pro Bowler, along with a SB championship.

All-Pro and Pro Bowl accolades matter the most for HOF induction. Thats the main reason Jahri Evans is near HOF induction. Jahri was recognized as one of the NFL’s best Guards during his entire prime by receiving the highest positional honors in several All-Pro selections.

Taysom has unique / / / slash records but doesn’t have any AP/PB accolades. He has to be recognized as one of the league’s best players for an entire season through APs and PBs. He won’t have a legitimate case for the NFL HOF without the accolades. He would need 1300+ rushing yard seasons or 15-20+ rushing TD seasons for All-Pro consideration. It may be too late for him to have a shot at those awards since he doesn’t get enough rushing touches to rack up higher numbers. He realistically has about 2-3 seasons left before he retires.

Taysom might have a chance for finalist consideration if he can somehow finish his career as a top 20-30 all time NFL rushing TD scorer. He needs 48 rushing TDs to reach 20th, 43 rushing TDs to reach 25th.
Multiple sub 20+ rushing TD seasons before he retires may also put him in the conversation.
