Kinda of a no on Glenn(though I like the guy) and Rizz while fairly admirable so far is the last resort.

Josh Allen makes offensive coaches look better than they are. Brady might be an excellent coach, but it’s hard to tell because he may have just had the good fortune to be around Burrow and Allen, and both of them make weak coaches look good. Like Daboll and Zack whatshisface in Cincy.

Sean Payton looked absolutely horrible with the Giants in 2002 and was stripped of playcalling. Went to Dallas to be QB coach after parting with the Giants. Went straight from QB coach to New Orleans Saints Head Coach.

According to that logic, we would be down a Drew Brees, several playoff births and a superbowl from 06-20.

Its often better to look at growth then it is looking for a pristine resume.

How much of his growth is having the MVP your QB?

The talent level here is more similar to his time with the Panthers.

Over the past couple of weeks I've grown on the simple idea that Joe Brady is a better candidate than Ben Johnson.

First and foremost, Brady seems to be a QB whisperer. This is obvious from as early as his days at LSU with Burrow at QB as the passing game coordinator. The following article highlights that his ideas helped propel the offense and helped Joe Burrow go from 16 TD's the previous season to 60.

From there he went to Carolina in 2020. It's no secret that the Panthers sucked under Matt Rhule. Joe Brady was fired later Dec 5th in the 2021 season. The Panthers never really took off offensively. But were they that bad? Is it possible that Joe Brady was a scapegoat? Yes. And that the same time No. Teddy Bridgewater had arguably his best season ever under Joe Brady throwing for 3700+ yards. Mike Davis had over 1000 yards from scrimmage. So what was the problem? Scoring. Teddy Bridgewater, after being traded informed on a podcast with Patrick Peterson that Joe Brady never practiced Red Zone, nor 2 minute drills in practice.

It showed. The Panthers were in the bottom half of scoring, despite having an offense that could drive the middle, and back half of the field with no problems.

But why? LSU's offense was quite good in the redzone. In fact it was downright terrifying to be on defense, pinned by the Joe Burrow led offense. Matt Rhule responded to Teddy's comments...

So Matt Rhule defended the practice methods. Is it possible that as head coach he directed how practices went? Absolutely. That's quite literally 1 of the defining jobs of the Head Coach. But its just speculation. So then why are the Bills so good in the redzone? Turns out, they focus on that in practice. Alot.

In fact, if you google around, you're hit with article after article of their red zone practices. Furthermore, that specific article states "Joe Brady took the offense into the redzone to work on the specifics of their playbook in 11 v 11 work".

So is it possible the lack of red zone work was under the preference of Matt Rhule? Absolutely. But we know this. Joe Brady practices red zone with the Bills, and is in large part why they are one of the top scoring offenses in the league. So either way you slice it. You can say "Its Matt Rhules fault". Or, you can say "Its Joe Brady's fault but he clearly learned from that mistake".

Either way, based on the adaptability, the mistakes and alterations to fix those mistakes, even down to the play calling, we're seeing a lot from Joe Brady. Possibly even more then we saw from Sean Payton at his time in OC.

I'm also curious, what do previous players have to say about Joe Brady.

So Burrow credits his success to Joe Brady.

So, Joe Burrow has a career year under Joe Brady at LSU, Teddy Bridgewater has a career year under Joe Brady despite a low scoring offense that may, or may not have been hindered by Matt Rhules practice philosphy. Josh Allen is having a career year, attributes a lot of it to Joe Brady....

Give me Joe Brady as Head Coach.

Unfortunately, this doesn't make sense as Teddy Bridgewater had arguably a career year under Brady as did Mike Davis. In fact he only had 1 bad year, which was with Sam Darnold, and as the OP indicates, it very well could've been more of a Matt Rhule problem.

Also, in 2017 he was an offensive assistant for the Saints, which happened to be one of the best years for a Saints offense ever. You can say "Drew Brees this" or "Sean Payton that" but the simple truth is there is a pattern of offenses/QB's having their best year wherever he goes, except for 1 year (2021).

No ones also mentioning how Josh Allen went from "overrated" and having a bad year then Joe Brady takes over playing calling last year and Allen immediately starts playing like a top QB.

It's detailed in the OP how well he did with the Panthers his first year there and how Matt Rhule may have been the issue. Considering QB's always have career years under Brady (except 2021), its more probable Matt Rhule was the issue in 2021.

Also, Allen is playing very similar this season to how he did once Brady took over the offense last season. Allen was not playing well at all last season until Brady took over.

Perhaps he helps us find a QB.....and he is only 35, if he succeeds, good chance he is around for awhile.....just some things to consider.....

If I were looking for a coach to help us find a quarterback. I'd go for one who already found a quarterback. Not one who went two places that already had them.

15 TDs and 11 interceptions is a career year? There’s a reason why they traded him to Denver.

I’ll say this about Joe Brady. I wouldn’t be upset if he ended up becoming our HC his track record speaks for its self. I know his role/part in LSU’s championship run is often times overblown but his results in the NFL speak for themselves.

The only worry I would have is does he have the right personality to be a head coach? After what we saw out of Allen where you can have an X&O’s genius but if he doesn’t have the fire, passion and personality he can’t hold it all together.

Also you have to look at his work this season and wonder how much of that is Allen and how much of that is Joe Brady. I have seen a lot of QB’s and got to watch the GOAT play here for 15 years up close, but I don’t think I have ever seen a QB quite like Allen. I know Patrick Mahomes gets the love because he has the hardware and Joe Burrow is the ruthless assassin that can be a one man army of one but Allen is the best of the 3, so it’s not every day you get to work with someone like that. Also, to be honest he’s not going to have anywhere near that here and that system of offense needs an elite QB to succeed. I just worry that Carr would break Joe Brady.

Every report I see on Ben Johnson is that he want's to go somewhere with a young QB (1st rounder) with the tools and people in place primed to make a run. That ain't us.

I would be ecstatic if we got Joe Brady.

Weird. I heard that what Johnson wants it to get paid and to go to a team that will pretty much so give him total control. We would obviously do that as we have done it before with Payton. But if he wants a young QB that's a tall order here.

I'm skeptical on Brady since he has only been good when he had great QBs. I guess he helped develop Burrow but Allen was more or less a finished product by the time he got there. And only an idiot could have messed up that LSU team with Burrow, Jefferson, Chase, CEH, etc. That was practically an NFL starting offense they put on the field every week.

I came to post that their OC got fired last year and so Allen most definitely didn't make his OC look good. Everywhere he goes the QB "coincidently" does well.

Remains to be seen if he's head coaching material but he's already an OC so a lateral move won't work. He's a young offensive mind that knows how to get the most out of a QB. We got Rattler coming up and if he doesn't develop then we'll be looking for a new one in a couple years.
