Would love to see Rizzi get more wins, but we need highest slot in the draft we can get. (1 Viewer)

Belichick, as a GM, won 6 times as many championships as Loomis.

It was time for the Pats to turn the page.

Time comes for everyone. Even Belichick. It’s that time for Loomis.

Remind me how many times the Pats have been to the playoffs since then? Are they really better off? Because it sure seems like they suck to me. I would rather not suck.

How many times since then? They are in year 1 of a rebuild, so it’s difficult to judge right now. They were 4-13 the year prior with Belichick. At least they identified the time and are trying to rebuild it. They had a losing record 3 of the 4 years prior. Most people agree it was time for Belichick to move on.

I don’t see the issue with saying Loomis had a nice long run of success, but also saying it’s time to move on. He hasnt done much right the last 5 years.

I fully expect him to be around as long as the pope. But it doesn’t mean we don’t need a new direction.

Right now, we aren’t good. It doesn’t look good moving forward. We haven’t been to the playoffs in 4 years playing in the worst division in football. We’ve changed everything except the GM. Seems time to do that. Even if Loomis stays around. Let someone else be the GM.

I’m confused about what this thread is about. Is it for us to tank AND retain Rizzi?

Think that would be a very tough sell.

Rizzi needs wins.

Aaron Donald was the 13th pick... we can name probably over a 100 nfl legends easily, not in the top 15 picks as well.... please stop telling me we need to tank.

There’s no way the Raiders will no try to lose the rest of their games. We’re probably picking 10th, unless we miraculously beat either the Packers or Bucs or both.

Something about something doesn't quite jive in terms of logic...you say draft position doesn't matter but yet year after year, the people paid millions to be good at that particular thing trade up EVERY SINGLE YEAR in the draft.

I don't care either way, but if we do decide to run off some wins at the end of the year...you stay your arse put come draft day with the spot you have. 2 wins after being mathematically eliminated isn't worth 2026s first rounder

Did someone imply we tank or is that just being understood? I think it’s more likely he’s pointing out that wins would be ideal, but the losses are benefitting us in a good way.

With all that we've faced this year, and how much we've been told this roster is void of talent - according to EPA we're the best of the middle of the pack teams. Currently we'd pick ahead of the Dolphiins and Seahawks, and are couple of losses away from potentially swapping w/ the Jets and getting inside the top 8.

In the games Rizzi's coached he's avoided snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, while winning the type of game Allen couldn't - boasting a 2-1 record in exhibitions decided by 3 or less. Could have been 3-1 w/ a better 1st half offensive performance vs Washington and perhaps a better playcall on the 2pt conversion attempt. That tells me Rizzi is extracting the most out of this team w/ a staff and philosophy that he didn't build. Rizzi embraces aggressivenes and taking chances, while both our defensive and offensive schemes are built around Allen's conservative philosophy.

Giving Rizzi the opportunity to recruit his own staff, potential access to premium draft talent, a weak division, and an unlikely repeat of the injury bug and you're looking at a competitive team in 25.

What gives you the optimism that Rizzi is a good enough talent evaluator to not only draft the talent we need and to put together an offensive and defensive staff since he's never done it at even a major college level?

I figure that he would keep the entire offensive staff and I'm fine with that , in fact to me that's one of my biggest reasons to keep Rizzi. But we have no record to show either way that he can put together a staff or even evaluate offensive and defensive players. Just want your take on it

Let me preface this post with I don't want ML making the decision on the next HC, I hope he will be taken out of that process.....

That said, I like what Rizzi has done, I think a lot of folks have impossible expectations for this team.....to me, the effort has been there and is more important to me than actual wins at this point, because we ain't making the playoffs.....

What I've seen so far is not enough to anoint Rizzi the HC going forward, but it also hasn't kept him out of the conversation, maybe that changes over the next few weeks.....My first choice would be Joe Brady though.....
So who do you want to make the next HC hire? Mrs B.? Lausha? A new GM ? If so who hires the new GM ? Or are you wanting someone else just because they are different?

More important to me than how many games Rizzi wins is how is he as a talent evaluator? If he can't be a great X's and O's guy can he hire an OC and DC that are? I think he has shown to be a good motivator but that only goes so far. He's a great ST coach but how is he at offense and defense? All those questions are way more important than if he wins a few games

Think the current thread title somewhat suggests a “tanking” premise, so that’s probably where the confusion is.

Anyone but Loomis, wouldn’t mind if they promoted Khai Harley, someone with a fresh perspective…..I think one thing that isn’t pointed out often enough is Loomis is only a few years away from 70…..

I think we all know they can’t make Rizzi the permanent coach and expect anyone to take them seriously.
