Is Kellen Moore not impressed with Rattler? (1 Viewer)

If Drew Brees was 33 and had Rattler and Haener behind him, we wouldn't be looking for a new QB until he was 40. The fact that it seems like we're all in scouting QB prospects in the draft, tells me how they genuinely feel about DC4. If one recalls, there was never a huge buzz come draft time about QB prospects in Drew Brees' prime. (they didn't even look at QB prospects as to not offend Drew). They sure aren't worried about Dc4's feelings. So it seems that they are settled for 2025, but 2026 and beyond is new QB1 territory.

I got no problem with CKM doing his due diligence....you have to if for no other reason than just in case one of the top 2 QBs falls to within a couple spots of 9. Plus they need to decide if taking a flyer on one of the other QBs after the first round is worth it and decide which round you would make that move.

I'm just scratching my head over people who have apparently already decided that Rattler can't be a starting QB. Before the draft there was not one report that considered him a day 1 starter. Then he gets thrown out there with a an offense that was so beat up it was probably on the level of of the UFL and what the hell do you expect?

Right now all I want to hear about is good depth building.. depth has destroyed us... players try to push another game on a soft tissue injury and boom.. out for x amount of weeks or the year.
I want a good running game. Ol Rb
then when we get a Qb it will be easier for him to succeed

Had he thought Rattler was any comp for Carr there should have been an open QB comp in TC, that does not appear to be the case....while that doesn't mean Rattler will never be our starter, it's not exactly encouraging (for folks that think Rattler is ready now) that he won't even be considered at this point

Unless I missed an important bit of news, I’m going to wait until everything has played out at the position over the offseason.

What is this post? LOL

Rattler will be on the roster and will compete for the top position on the depth chart. I don't think he'll win it, but looking to add another young QB says zero about Rattler or his future prospects other than he isn't a proven quality starter at this point.

I’m not going to bet. I hope he turns into the next Drew Brees, but if he shows improvement his ceiling for next season is third string running the scout team. I am also pulling for Haener. I also liked JW when he was here. I believed he was a solid backup, but would be hammered on here for not believing he was an elite starter who would take his next team to the Super Bowl. Same reaction for stating my opinion, some of you take things personally.
Not taking anything personal. Not sure how much of what you wrote here has to do with what I was responding too. I just think stating that Rattler won’t make our roster is wild. Maybe a 1% chance of that happening.

He couldn’t beat out Heaner last season for the number two spot. Most here think Haener won’t make them team so what is the difference between the two, it can’t be much.

I don't think its fair to have your mind made up on a player who's had a couple starts in one season in a dysfunctional, injury ridden team. I know there's not a lot of patience in this league, but I would at least want to see how the guy does when he has a legitimate shot at winning a game. I think he did a lot of good things despite the circumstance and if he gets confidence, we got our own version of Baker who could potentially be better. I'm not saying I believe outright that he's our next franchise QB, but I don't think he's been given a chance to prove that yet.
I think he should be given a chance and Heaner as well. I hope one of them can step up. But right now neither are ready for the backup role, only DA would’ve made such a decision, remember he had Heaner over Rattler.

Rattler is just the "next guy", just like this year's UDFAs will always be hyped up more than last year's UDFAs. If the Saints draft a QB this year, it will likely be the same. Everyone will be on his bandwagon instead of Rattler's.

Rattler showed some good things last year, but he didn’t light the world on fire. Sure, it was nice that he didn’t tear an oblique throwing off his back foot or break his hand leaping over a defender instead of stepping out of bounds. But that’s a pretty low bar. A new coach wanting to keep that job for a while is going to look for a QB of their choice.
You really have gone off the deep end with your Carr hatred. SMH
