Is Kellen Moore not impressed with Rattler?

There are two types of QB's. One's you can win with, and ones you win because of. Teams are always on the hunt for the former. Rattler had a pristine opportunity to show he was the because of type in the Washington game, and he just missed the mark. Could he still develop into that guy? Absolutely, but if were going off initial impressions you have to operate as though you still don't have that guy
I still think that Juwan Johnson could have caught that 2pt conversion against Washington. It hit him in the hands. Thought it was a bad playcall from the start that still nearly worked out despite very small margin for error. Not to say that I think Rattler is "that guy" yet, but I'm optimistic that Rattler does still possess quite a bit of talent and showed enough flashes along with multiple "halves" of football that were actually quite good. He just hasn't put together a full game yet. Will be interesting to see if a better QB coach in Moore along with actual starting caliber talent on offense help Rattler take the next step or not.

Yeah, the deck was really stacked against any rookie QB stepping in to that kind of situation, and yet I thought Rattler showed some promise under really bad circumstances. I’m not sure what people expected to see, or what they are disappointed that they didn’t see.

I don’t disagree, and yet it would have been a boom for his stock if he could have transcended the meh play call and thrown a better ball…against the odds.

Rattler will get his chance to show what he has in camp, but until then this new staff has to do its due diligence in checking every QB they can out just to be able to rule out a possibility. What would it look like of a franchise QB gets selected after us because we did not interview them.
It’s just doing your job.

Agree. He played with heart and determination. Clearly has confidence. Not sure there are many starting QBs who would have thrived in the horror show we went through at the end of the season

The million dollar question is how would Jayden Daniels have performed in the exact scenerio Rattler was in?

Would you be? He was over his head, maybe after a few years in the league he could become a viable player, but right now?
I don't think its fair to have your mind made up on a player who's had a couple starts in one season in a dysfunctional, injury ridden team. I know there's not a lot of patience in this league, but I would at least want to see how the guy does when he has a legitimate shot at winning a game. I think he did a lot of good things despite the circumstance and if he gets confidence, we got our own version of Baker who could potentially be better. I'm not saying I believe outright that he's our next franchise QB, but I don't think he's been given a chance to prove that yet.

Probably pretty poorly. And it bugs me that so many have their mind made up on a guy who was thrown into the situation we had last year. Our o-line was graded one of the worst. No receivers. Injuries across the board. No head coach and a dysfunctional leadership and locker room.

Rattler has some nice traits and showed some ability.

But no QB on this roster has played at a level that we can’t upgrade. Especially moving into the future.
We say that every year after the luster wears off from the excitement of signing and or drafting a QB, first it was Carr, then Haener now Rattler, now its the new guy we may potentially draft.....

And it's been true every year since Brees retired.

While I agree with above, at least for now I'm going to trust CKM's evaluation, I'm certain after watching tons of film on Rattler he feels (at a minimum) he's not ready to be a starter in the NFL.....or he may feel he will never be a quality starter in the NFL.....

Had he thought Rattler was any comp for Carr there should have been an open QB comp in TC, that does not appear to be the case....while that doesn't mean Rattler will never be our starter, it's not exactly encouraging (for folks that think Rattler is ready now) that he won't even be considered at this point
