By John Sigler - Saints Wire

Spencer Rattler isn't the only New Orleans Saints quarterback putting in work this offseason. Rookie draft pick Tyler Shough was spotted at Tulane's Yulman Stadium on Saturday getting to know some of his new teammates. Second-year wide receiver Bub Means was there catching passes from Rattler, and so were veteran tight ends Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau (who was wearing a knee brace after his Week 18 injury). Former Tulane Green Wave wide receiver Dontae Fleming, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted rookie, was also in attendance.

Each of these guys could play big roles in 2025. Johnson (who once played with Shough in college at Oregon) just signed a lucrative three-year contract extension, and figures to see an uptick in targets. Kellen Moore's offense is known for funneling a lot of passes to the tight ends and his late-night sales pitch convinced Johnson to stay in New Orleans as a free agent. Means is both the tallest and heaviest receiver on the roster so he may be expected to fight for contested catches and move the chains. Moreau has been an effective blocker and pass-catcher for the Saints, and he's one of the few guys offensively who plays with real attitude. They need tone-setters like him. Moore's reluctance to roster a fullback may open up new doors for Moreau, too.

All that aside, it's really encouraging to see Shough asserting himself and getting to work so soon. Like other first-year pros, he won't report to the Saints practice facility for rookie minicamp until next weekend, but he isn't wasting any time. Developing this chemistry with his receivers and learning what routes they like and where he can place the ball is critical. This is how that bond starts to materialize. ...

Miguez: Grading the 2025 Saints draft class

Now that the dust has settled on the 2025 NFL Draft and rookie minicamps get underway throughout the NFL next week, it's time to really look at the draft class for the New Orleans Saints as a whole.

Personally, I think draft grades are silly so soon after the draft and before the players take the field, but I do have thoughts on the decisions that the Saints made and how they did so.

The New Orleans Saints made nine selections in the draft but never once traded up or down to make them. This was the first time since 2012 they didn't trade up, and it may have paid off.

They addressed...

Marcus Yarns is the Saints’ next UDFA diamond in the rough

The strength of the 2025 NFL Draft class was the talent at running back. It had top talent with Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton, selections throughout day 2, and late-round gems like Devin Neal. Every team in the NFL could have selected a running back prospect this year, but some still went undrafted, and the Saints got the best one available, Marcus Yarns.

At Delaware, Yarns was a three-year starter, contributing heavily to rushing and receiving games. In 2022, Yarns had a decent year with 481 rushing yards, 199 receiving yards, and 5 total touchdowns. Yarns was not the full-time...

On April 27, the New Orleans Saints announced the signing of eleven undrafted free agents. Alabama punter James Burnip was among them.

Burnip was born in Mount Macedon, AU, and grew up playing Australian rules football. Learning to punt by training with ProKick Australia, he committed to Alabama in 2021 after initially committing to Ole Miss.

He ranks second all-time in school history (behind JK Scott) in yards per punt with 43.9, according to Alabama’s website. During his four years at Tuscaloosa, Burnip punted 203 times for 8,904 yards, ranking third all-time in Alabama history. In his...

NEW ORLEANS — Saints Rookie Minicamp begins next weekend, and former John Ehret and Tulane standout will get his shot to make the black and gold roster.

Before we were introduced to Patrick Jenkins dominating at John Ehret or terrorizing at Tulane, he was a Saints fan growing up on the Westbank.

The defense tackle now has a chance to play for his favorite team, as Jenkins is one of the invites to the Saints Rookie Camp this week.

"I'm just excited," he said. "It's a wonderful opportunity just to be in my hometown. It's going to be a wonderful experience," he added.

Saints Way-Too-Early 2026 Mock Draft

Yes, I know the 2025 NFL Draft was just last week, and we have no clue who in the New Orleans Saints draft class will contribute to this roster, but why not get excited about the future? Also, staying aware of some prospects who could be future Saints players is a good idea, so let’s start this mock draft!

In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Saints addressed the trenches early, but on the offensive side of the ball. They could have also gone in the direction of defensive line, specifically an edge rusher/outside linebacker, but ended up not selecting that position until the 7th round. This is a...

In his seasons with Tennessee, Thomas gathered over 100...
