2013 Hip-Hop (1 Viewer)

It's hard to find good hip hop and you aren't helping by posting that Trinidad James video.
Hehe yeah that video's pretty atrocious but like I said, the beat's what does it for me. So here ya go.

So this guy, Adrian Younge, he's done so cool stuff with his own band/outlet Venice Dawn. Well he's producing Ghostface Killah's newest release and what I've heard it's a really cool.

Twelve Reasons To Die | Soul Temple Music

If you like he instrumental tracks check out Adrian's stuff, it's all in the same vain. Drums and Rhodes, can't miss.

The new Ghostface album is amazing!

It's a great time to be a hip hop fan..Some other stuff I'm feeling this year:

Sadly 99% of rap (not even hip-hop) today is garbage, I still listen to Philadelphia Freeway, Be, and The Cool quite a bit. Other than that it's old school blues & southern soul.

What I've heard from Yeezus is terrible. A huge step back from MBDTF.

Here's something for y'all:

And AZ's Doe or Die II should be coming out sometime this year

Yeah, the autotune on that song was fantastic and totally necessary. :hihi:

We have very different tastes, I guess.

I've been listening to it since last night.

MBDTF just grabbed me immediately, but I've been a little unsure on Yeezus so far.

I was really hyped for it, especially the last few weeks, because I caught his SNL performance where he performed New Slaves and Black Skinhead, which I thought he really killed. But I'm not really enjoying the rest of the album as much of those (yet).

The production seems great, I really like what I guess you would call the concept of the album, but the lyrics seem a little lacking and underwhelming. I've never really considered Kanye to be a lyricist but even this seems below his usual standard.

I think the final product shouldn't have come out so soon. There was an interview I read with Rick Rubin who came on late as the executive producer, and he basically said that when he came out the album was due out really soon, but that Kanye still hadn't recorded vocals for a bunch of stuff and that he thought that the album still had months of work left. Obviously they released it when they said they would, but I can't help thinking about that interview when listening to the album.
