{2023 Thread Bumped} Underhill Giving No Quarter to Nick Wright (1 Viewer)

I think we’ve lost some good talent due to the way the cap is managed, yes. Not speaking about Tuttle and Onyemata tho. Lol

I respect that others may not see it the same way I do.
If we did it the more traditional way we would’ve lost even more good talent because we would have even less money to spend. The way we do it we have the current year’s cap plus future cap money as opposed to only having the current year.

Agreed. What some people are not seeing is Loomis and the front office are doing it this way because they can, and because it delivers the most bang for the buck imo.

We can and will make room. Relax.
Kicking the can down the road. It means that for every 10m spent, you could spend another 10 by kicking the can if you had no dead money. It’s not that hard. And it’s how we built the last 5 years of Payton’s tenure (that started with a clean cap)

Wright is correct, not in the sense that Onyemata is a cap casualty (he’s not) but that we don’t have room to replace him in FA if we wanted to. So I don’t like all this being petty and laughing at criticism.
Lol, people say we can't sign anyone else and yet we usually do. So...keep up the good work! :9:

He was likely looking the last couple years 21-22. The Sainst had 20-25% in dead cap. For 2023 it's 2.25%

Cap is skyrocketing, so the dollars are more valuable today. And there is no finish line, you just continue borrowing from the future.

How much longer is it going to take for everyone to understand and accept this?

Except that's not how the salary cap works in practice.
