I bet it will be half that surge. The storm is really moving now and weakening. The wind field is pretty small overall compared to other major hurricanes.

Told her I really, really hope I'm wrong. But again reminded that the pressure of this storm got historically low, Andrew's lowest was 922 m. Heck, people don't even talk about Andrew anymore. I even learned from Katrina that you can't ignore the pressure.
One of the things this thread made me look into was how pressure impacted storms, and I'm right there with you now
 
I bet that is not from the hurricane. It's hard to imagine someone running straight into the hurricane, dumber things have happened. We usually try to avoid such well forecast systems.
You hear about Coast Guard rescues all the time during a hurricane. So I don't doubt. Looks like the ship is anchored knowing it could be in trouble. Weather looks nothing pretty.

The 4pm CDT advisory shows Milton now down to 120 mph max sustained winds.
 
So who is going to win? Darwin or Lt. Dan, the ultimate Florida Man...
