A microcosm of Winston’s career (1 Viewer)

Who is bent out of shape? Not me, but I will sometimes comment when the axe grinders get going. I assumed that is how a place like this maintains the traffic needed to keep the advertisers happy.

And 10% of the people being that dumb and intentionally short sighted is worthy of comment in my opinion.

Just my opinion though.
Fair enough. There will always be axe grinders, so you'll usually have something to say on it. It's all good. :9:

Of course, there's also the fact that we tend to absolutism and blame one factor, when in reality it's always a combination of several. Our staff plus OL, plus whichever QB is in the game, are not consistently leading to wins. Looking for a single root cause just feeds the tribalism and division.
^ This. The need to point a finger at a single person or factor is why we have these "apologist" vs. "hater" threads. And the same people are locked in on their player.

IMO, one of our biggest drive killers yesterday were penalties. Forced us to pass and allowed the Vikes to do what they do best, blitz. And Shaheed lined up a yard over the line (WTH!!) erased a big play AND put us in a longer yardage situation.

Winston played better, IMO but neither QB passes the eye test. Still hard to tell exactly how much of this is on the coaching/play calling vs. execution. First TD, Olave made a great catch, ball was put in a good place as the coverage was there. Winston's second TD was an attempt that usually gets picked as the WR is open but way across the field. But the pass was a very accurate fast ball and the defender just couldn't quite get there - risky, yes, but Winston delivered.

If this team were remotely in sync, either of these QBs could get us into and fairly deep into the playoffs. But right now, our lesser opponents are out-scheming and out-playing us.

If we were 7-3 and coming off a nice win the entire tenor of this place would be different.. as is, the last two games have only served to kill off the last remnants of optimism.

True enough. The detractors tend to not say too much when the team is doing well. That's pretty normal.

JW: F$&@ it and Chuck it.

Carr: I can’t find the open WR.
JW: All WRs are open all the time.

JW: I’m going to roll left and throw across the field. Never do that. But I have top 5 arm talent and half the time it works for a TD and 30 times it doesn’t.

No hate for either guy. Both are flawed.

This is actually a good analysis. Jameis always believes his receivers will come out on top. For better or worse.

I got to a point where I realized we weren't going to win this game but I kept watching because I wanted to see what Winston would do with another opportunity. That first drive, I was happy for him to come out and take the team down the field. After the 2nd TD, I started realizing that regardless of the outcome, there were going to be people happy if we won but unhappy that Winston played a positive part in. Finally, I watched the last INT and forgot about everything he did prior to it because I knew that there would be the same crowd who simply do not like Winston and stand ready to blame him for the loss. The bottom line is that the dude came in and showed the people who believe in him exactly what they thought he could do and at the same time, he showed the people who do not believe in him exactly what they said he would do.
You watched a different game than I did. It took TWO amazing catches for us to come close. Those were NOT good throws by JW. Pure luck on the throws and great catches. JW did make some good throws but many more poor ones and VERY poor decisions. Throwing into TRIPLE coverage when we had 2mins left on the plus side of the field was pure BONEHEAD and vintage JW . 1st pick robbed us of a chance to go for it on 4th and short

JW could have easily had 4 or 5 picks in less than a half of football if not for 2 great catches by our receivers…. And one drop by the defense. I give him credit for coming in cold and doing his job as a backup…. But all said he’s just a bad QB, and he did what he always does.

I can't speak for all "detractors" but I know I said something after the Colts and Pats games...some of yall wasn't hearing it at the time, called me a Debbie downer...so I fell back...didn't say too much after the Bears debacle.

Beating up on bad teams that cant move the ball on their end says nothing about us...guess it says we're not as bad as (...)

And Speaking NE and Indy being bad teams....they played a horrendously bad game against each other this weekend.

Sean got him to make better choices. That was not what I saw yesterday. He was just heaving it.
I have said this about JW since last yr . All the athletic ability in the world. It's what is above his shoulders that has always been the problem. BUT with the right HC/OC he could overcome those issues. Much like Goff has in Det, with Johnson. Or even what Waldron has done for Geno Smith. He needs a QB whisperer

He was getting sacked....but don't let that change how you looked at the play
There's this thing called out-of-bounds , where you can throw it and no harm will come to you. Yes AK missed the block but it's easy to see the free rusher and what's going to happen. Throw it AWAY

If you're about to get sacked, throw it out of bounds, which he easily could have done. Better yet, do a quick throw or run to pick up the first down and you don't have to worry about getting sacked as much.
