A microcosm of Winston’s career (1 Viewer)

No it isnt...there's no mirror like image to what JW goes through vs what Carr does....not even remotely close....this threads existence in its own is evidence to the contrary. and hell, within this very thread folks are complaining about how the touchdowns looked while completely ignoring that Carr didn't even throw a TD or put us in position to score a TD through 2 and a half quarters of football.

Look, the past 2 years all we heard was "so and so aint it"..."he's not a starter", "he needs to take a prove it deal", "we'll be better once we get "Franchize QB"" and so on. Some of us tried to tell yall, the problem isn't the QB...we got told to "ST(F)U Jameis worshippers he's the problem". So the Saints went out, spent $150M on a "Franchize QB" and whatya know....we still have the same problems. But now we even had the opportunity to see within a single game the teams ineffectiveness with the $150M QB and some semblance of life w/ the guy yall told us wasn't :poop: .

I mean GD, look no further than Olave's demeanor as to who he thinks the problem is. Its all good though, Carrs the guy, if he's healthy he'll play, some of us just kinda wish that same standard applied last year.
Btw just wanted to revisit this when I had the opportunity to more closely read your post, what was this "y'all" sheet you were throwing out at me there? Go back and look at my posts, I've wanted Dennis Allen and Carmichael gone as much as anybody since early last season.

You gotta call it out when you see it.

24-3 under Carr and crickets for his performance and they wanted Jameis to become Toussaint Louverture and scramble a W against the odds..but Carr can geaux out like Custard without a fight and it's crickets..."but Jameis..."
Not only is this a nonsense narrative, it also exposes your complete lack of football IQ.

A) It will take you 3 seconds to find VERY critical threads about Carr.

B) I would guess that any strong arm QB could do something similar to Winston if they had ZERO regard for ball security.

C) You guys act like Winston is the poor victim of the man holding him down and REFUSING to give him his shot. Are we serious here? He was the 1st pick in the draft, was a starter in TB for years, was a FA and NO ONE wanted him because you can’t win with a QB that turns the ball over at this rate! Even the TD Perry was a HORRIBLE decision! AMAZING throw, just as bad a decision.

D) This game was the epitome of Jameis Winston.

My post wasn't for an audience of one...if you felt as if the paragraph where the single "yall" was used didn't apply to you...then keep it moving and be merry. I believe I covered my response to your post in the first paragraph...after that just a blanket statement that wasn't in direct response to you.

JW could have easily had 4 or 5 picks in less than a half of football if not for 2 great catches by our receivers…. And one drop by the defense. I give him credit for coming in cold and doing his job as a backup…. But all said he’s just a bad QB, and he did what he always does.

This exposes your bias in plain view. That first TD to Olave was a great throw, he put it where only Olave had a chance to catch it, Brees made these type of throws all the time and folks constantly praised him.....

The 2nd throw was a 50/50 ball that AT Perry (who inexplicably has been a healthy scratch all year) won.....

And folks much like the same detractors back in 2021 are acting like all of Jameis TD's are happy accidents or something.....my god.....

He's not going to change his mind because he's too emotionally invested in Winston. Facts don't really matter.

Nah, he was right, Winston had some bad throws in between his hero throws and got bailed out by some questionable penalties on the defense.

The 2nd possession he was QB, when hill dropped(defender dislodged) the back to back short passes, the long 3rd down pass could have been intercepted, it was not a good pass.

3rd possession they had the interception that got overturned but could have been an interception.

Winston was the opening day starter for the Saints for two straight seasons (21/22 and 22/23). It's not as though he was denied the opportunity to ever be the man; it's just that injuries took him out both times he was given the chance.

Yeah, no matter what anyone might think of Jameis, that TD to Olave was a hell of a throw. He's always been able to make those throws. Winston's issues have never been about arm strength and talent. His negatives, which are significant, are his lack of consistency and not reading the field well.

He's more than capable of forcing it into tight windows, he just misses those windows too often. Brees could do it consistently because his accuracy was second to none. Winston has never been all that accurate.

He's also not read defenses well. He's often late when identifying a blitz and going to a hot read. I'm trying to recall where he's done that well. There have been several still shots posted where he's either missed or ignored short/medium wide open options in early down and short yardage situations.

And of course, he's always had issues protecting the football. He throws a lot of interceptions, precisely because he tries to force it into those tight windows, or just made outright poor reads.

I genuinely want Winston to succeed, and the only time I've ever seen him do well was his injury shortened season when he was the starter from the outset under Payton.

I always wonder what things would have been like had he not been injured that season. I'm convinced they would have made the playoffs. Iirc, they missed getting in by one game. Winston would have been the difference in at least 1 of those losses.

He got the Saints in the endzone twice, produced 16 points, our vaunted, highly overrated starting QB managed 3 points in almost 3 quarters of play.....the rest is BS.....IMO

Deuce Windham had a pretty good breakdown of Jameis's play and he pointed out something a lot of people have missed. It's not that Jameis is bad at pre-snap reads; it's that he is bad at adjusting when the look changes post-snap. Another weakness is that he trusts his receivers to make the play, no matter what. That TD to Olave was insane. Probably the best TD pass a Saints QB has thrown since Drew retired. The second one was a God's Plan throw that he trusted AT to come down with.

Wanna get depressed about the defense again? Sheldon Rankins had three sacks against the Bungles.

Do you understand mutual exclusivity?

Winston can have both produced 16 points in one quarter, and have been lucky to not have thrown 4 interceptions in less than a half of football.

the two things are not mutually exclusive. You may not like that he said "He's a bad QB" because I do not necessarily agree, but the dude throws a LOT of interceptions.

Just because he also throws a lot of touchdowns, doesn't make his proclivity to throw interceptions any less true.

He also threw 2 unforced interceptions. There's always good/bad with Winston. It's the story of most of his career. He needs a Payton who can get the most out of him and minimize the down sides. I'm not seeing the current coaching staff doing that.
