Belichik made the point yesterday on McAfee's show yesterday that you can't put too much on preseason performances.

Jake should be the #2.

However it is totally in keeping with his narrative that he be passed over for someone who "looks"the part more. He got beat out by Jacob Eason at the UW. Eason is 6'5 and has a rifle for an arm, and he went on to put up mediocre numbers at UW. Jake went on to put up great numbers at Fresno.

I’m fine if they get equal reps. I just have a hard time believing that will happen once the season starts and you really want QB2 prepared. Plus there will be 1 inactive QB on game day. Who is that going to be?
