Allen better not mess around with naming Rattler QB#2 (1 Viewer)

I think you are over estimating the logic used by most sports fans. They'll call for whoever isn't on the field that they think is better.
Yea true fans are a bit like infants in a high chair hissy fitting for food. But maybe there’s a higher level of intensity knowing the coach can literally put him in the next play. Like the same baby in a high chair with a candy bar just barely out of reach lol.

If Carr has to miss any games due to injury, I think Kubiak will give Hill a lot more snaps at QB to take pressure off of either Haener or Rattler. Hill at QB in a bootleg & rollout based offense would put a lot of pressure on the defense. Making the defense prepare for Hill as a run pass option QB and moving all across the alignment when either Haener or Rattler is at QB would put a lot of pressure on defenses and take a lot of pressure off of the two young and inexperienced QB's.

Neither Haener or Rattler has taken a single snap against a defense full of starters that have game planned and running complex and confusing schemes. We won't know how Haener or Rattler would do against that. Preseason is a mirage when it comes to starting against another team's best starters throwing everything they can at you. That's why a lot of QB's look great in preseason, but struggle a lot during the regular season.

The only QB on the roster behind Carr who has had success as a QB during the regular season is Hill and I think Kubiak knows and values that.
The "HILL AT QUARTERBACK" experiment is over. Let's put in a real QB(RATTLER) and move forward. Hill had his QB moments and didn't cut it. Stop trying to put that square peg into that round hole.

A tidbit from a draft profile for Spencer Rattler. This could be the reason that this new staff chose Rattler. We need to pump the brakes. Rattlers scouting reports all say the same things in areas he needs to improve. He needs to show these reports that he can improve and develop.

Draft Report:
After running a statistical comparison Rattler's statistics both in terms of on-field production and physicals are almost identical to the Niner's Brock Purdy, in fact at this point the only obvious difference between the two is Rattler's much stronger arm. We're not suggesting that Rattler is a shoo-in for the league MVP in his second year as a pro but it's worth noting for those teams looking to find a future starter outside the first round.

I’m always reminded of Houston Oilers fans who were “tired” of Warren Moon, and wanted native Texan, Baylor product, and longtime backup Cody Carlson to start.

Moon left after 1993. Carlson took over as QB1 in 1994. The Oilers went 1-4 in games Carlson started. At the end of the 1994 season, Carlson retired. Moon played five more seasons as a starter, three with the Vikings and two with the Seahawks.

Fans don’t always want what’s actually best for the team.

Thanks for reminding me of the ballad of Cody Carlson. Another Scott Mitchell, but worse.

Warren Moon was still throwing for 400 yards and 5 tds in a game while the Oilers weren't even a franchise anymore.

I guess the reality is that today the depth chart isn’t set and that doesn’t have to happen for another week or so

You have reading comprehension issue, because I didn't say anything near what you seem to think I said.

But back then, did they “know” they were always right and everybody else is always wrong the way people often act these days? … I’ve been pleased to see fewer “attacks” on differing opinions today than in recent weeks and hope that continues. … I don’t mind people thinking differently than me. But it’s no fun when they insist on attacking you and running from and avoiding points you make with clown faces, Failclowns and Palmfaces rather than having a civil discussion/debate. … This wonderful site (thank you Andrus) has not been a lot of fun at times in recent weeks. So thanks to all Who Dats who seemed to let up on all of the “attitude” today and simply talked/debated as opposed to taking shots at others. … And thanks to Son of Nola and many others for all of their “homework” and information spreading today. It’s been helpful for this exhausted Who Dat dealing with his first official case of COVID.

DA is doing what DA does when it's too close to call, he splits.

Think back to him having to choose between Kris Richard and Ryan Nielsen. One now works for the other at his 2nd stop as a DC in Jacksonville, and arguably Rattler is the equivalent to Ryan Nielsen between he and Haener. W/ hindsight being 20/20 perhaps you can argue Allen should have made Nielsen DC and ran w/ it, and perhaps Rattler should be the #2 right now, but one thing I learned last week while playing BJ is it's better to be consistent w/ your play.

I mean to say if its your general strategy to split 2's ALWAYS split 2's and for better or worse, Allen always splits.

Keeping with the analogy, it's possible some may see it as Allen splitting 10's, an offendable gesture punishable by players abruptly departing the table. I see it as the aformentioned w/ Haener and Rattler representing low bust potential hands on either side. The split also indirectly signals a short term committment to Carr for this year, ie there will be no QB controvery. There's no eye on QB1 right now only QB2 and that should be enough to keep the young guns occupied in 2024.

Maybe by saying both are competing they are both able to get reps with the 2nd team
