Alvin Kamara pleads no contest to lesser misdemeanor charge, jury trial is cancelled; civil suit also settled on confidential terms (1 Viewer)

I am 53 years old. I spent 4 years in the service getting drunk all over the place and never did anything like this. I don’t recall hearing AK was drunk.
I don't recall whether he was drunk, but if you're awake at 4 am and been hanging out in Vegas with friends...could be high, drunk, both or sober.

He doesn't have any sort of history doing this. It's no excuse, but I fully expect he's learned his lesson and would be surprised if it happens again.

My God, turn off the TV. You can only watch Joyce Meyers, Joel Olsteen, and T.D. Jakes.
Your pomposity is sickening.
well, that depends on your definition of morals.
they vary from person to person. some can find these above don't meet their moral compass..
I have no doubt that there is an Actor or singer etc that Semper admires that can be found not to have "morals" or maybe Semper is a man of higher morals than Jesus..

Your pomposity is sickening. Don't watch the games he plays in. Say it with your chest!! Was it stupid? Absolutely! If me or your revolting self-righteous self did it would we be in jail now? Yes. Say it with your chest! Don't watch the games!!
Man it really bothers you doesnt it? How about you move along if you don’t like my opinion? Much like you and everyone else here, we have options. I can watch the Saints and not like his behavior. I do find it amusing that you call moral revolting. You’re welcome to accept the behavior you like and I will do the same. And for the record I don’t watch any of that crap nor do I attend church.

I find it incredible that so many people just accept a persons behavior as it’s ok when they do something like this. I believe the guy that started this was after money, I also believe AK is capable of restraint and better decisions. I don’t look up to any actor or singer, or ball player as a hero. My hero’s are soldiers and cops. Not all of them but the ones who we’ve with honor and pride. I don’t know if Jesus is real and I also don’t think I am a holier than thou type of person. But I believe in right and wrong. I have been in fights, I have done stupid things. We all have issues that we find unacceptable. I was jumped by pieces of garbage on two occasions, once in D.C. and once in Louisiana. I find animalistic behavior sickening. Wanna fight a man then do it like a man instead of like a coward in a group of people.

Now that this saga is over, I have to say it. Alvin let me down. (I won't speak for anyone else.)

The only NFL jersey I've ever owned is #41. I've watched Alvin play since he was a rookie and his game has energized me. Who can forget his 6 TD masterpiece?!

But, by letting his temper get the best of him, he let me down. Yes, he's human, and we are all flawed. I get that. But our tempers are our worst enemies, and I hope Alvin learns from this. For the team, I hope his NFL penalty isn't overly harsh.

Oh, I'll keep wearing my #41 whenever he plays. But, I sincerely hope he takes this opportunity to self improve and not let anyone set him off again. I know in my heart he's better than that, and I wish him the best.

Love your game, Alvin, but please do better.

Well, I don't think that you should paint AK in a negative picture because no one really knows what actually happened. That video footage in the Vegas casino is only part of the story. And the victim wasn't innocent in this situation. He did took a substantial settlement and accept the confidential terms agreement, which sounds a lot like he agreed to keep his mouth shut about how much he got.

The victim wasn't after justice. If he was then why not go to trial and put AK away to prove that he's not above the law.

Not one person has said what he did was ok.

Anyone who works on the Vegas club scene has at least heard about this guy. Don't know how true it is as it's out of my paygrade, but I've heard from you a few peoples that he's banned from several properties for starting altercations/groping/sexually harassing/etc. and habitually trespasses said properties.

Wonder if that played any role in the felony being dropped. Not excusing Kamara but this is a 3 game suspension tops. Maybe less.

so you don't enjoy movies, don't listen to music or any other entertainment at all? hows that different from watchIng AK play Football?
I'm not saying I look up to AK as some kind of hero. but this situation isn't gonna keep me from watching a Saints game and pulling for him. maybe you should quit watching altogether, the nfl is full of people who would not be considered "with morals". and there are many many soldiers and cops who fit that to, but I guess honor and pride override that.. I'm willing to bet that if this happened with a group of Marines, you would have the same feelings we have about AK right now, probably saying the guy shouldn't have instigated..

Well, I don’t really see what AK did was that bad honestly. He exchanged some words with someone. Things got chippy and he went at the guy solo initially. His buddy decided to join in. Fights happen all the time and they will forever happen until the end of time. 💩 happens. I do NOT condone his buddy joining in to make it a jumping. Had his buddy not done that, it would’ve been just two guys working some stuff out. Heck, I once had to break up a fight between two “Golden Girls” in my establishment once. Both were over 70 years old and there was a 50-ish year old daughter that decided to get some licks in as well. Once I separated them, they alerted me to the fact that the fight was caused by an unpaid debt from 10 years earlier. The one lady who started it didn’t even try to talk it out. I watched her from a distance approach the other woman with a good ole country right hook ready for deployment. Took forever for the hook to get there bc of her age, but apparently words just wouldn’t cut it. Never thought I’d see Blanche Devereaux and Rose Nylund tussle, but there it was….scratch that off of some of the “WTH” moments that I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing. At no point did I ever say that someone should go to jail or prison. Like I said….. 💩 happens.

for someone who doesn't have a history of any problems, I don't get the throw him in jail types. but these are the people who love that we can't build prisons fast enough and fill them up. Greene definitely won't end up in the "why do bad things happen to good people" thread. he didn't get what he deserved (not many people deserve the beating he took) but he did get what he asked for.

but I posted this in the Random Picture thread a few days ago and I think it's relevant here.

This was during the Pro Bowl.. the footage is out.. if the League doesn't throw the book at him I'd be shocked at anything less than 6 games.

And your point is? What? As I said he would need a plea deal w/ no jail time. I didn't think one was forthcoming, but, Greene settled w/ Kamara this month and that seemed take the air out of NVs prosecutions case. Another thing I thought wouldn't happen. But, it did.

Was there really much "air"? The case was delayed and delayed and delayed - which in this case happened because either the defendant or the victim asked for it to be delayed. It never looked like the prosecution was pushing this case at all. When the court finally set trial (it had to), that was the impetus to get a deal done.

But if the victim feels like it is resolved (through a nice payment and an apology, if that happened), does the DA's office really want to try this case? The victim is no longer put out and the social interest doesn't appear that strong - this was an isolated incident with one victim. Spend time and resources on other cases with a more compelling social profile. People think it was an open and shut case from the video but not if you consider the individual elements of the two charges involved.

The purpose of criminal laws are to protect individual members of society in the event they are victims, and then to protect the broader society as a whole by governing behavior. Here, the victim's interests are resolved and the defendants don't even live there. They're not menaces. Seems like a reasonable resolution that falls in line with how most of these cases are resolved (with a plea of some kind).
