Andy Dalton is PFF’s 2nd highest graded passer this season (1 Viewer)

Especially with TD drops by his receivers, fumbles in the red zone with RB's.
Saints are 18th in dropped pass rate. The top 3 teams in that stat are the Bills, Dolphins, and Ravens. Those teams are 3rd, 9th, and 16th in scoring. We are 22nd.

Also, in terms of fumbles/game, the Dalton-led Saints would be 17th at 0.55/game. The top 3 teams average 0.83/game, but two of those three teams (Seahawks and Jaguars) rank higher in scoring than us (7th and 12th). The Colts are worse but they have an OL cosplaying as a coach.

In short, those excuses don’t stop other teams from putting up points and booking wins. And that’s ranking us 22nd in scoring without removing the Hill game.

Have you factored in our inability to cause turnovers? We're last in the league if I'm not mistaken. What about total possessions, total plays ran?
Dropped pass rate in the red zone, balls thrown in the end zone-drops?
I'm not taking up for Dalton, just stating facts.
Ingram getting the first down--TB GAME).......Our defense giving the Minnesota game away-3 defensive penalties that kept the drive going........Our defense giving away the Cincinnati game. We'd be 8-6 at this point with a stronghold on the division.

Dalton is not a winner. And that matters when you get to the 4th quarter.

With that said, he’s not the main problem, and that’s why we should 100% keep him as a bridge QB for whoever we draft.

I honestly think Payton could win 10 games with him.

I can agree with this take, just don’t agree with the take from PFF that Dalton is performing at a top 5 level.

Every team has their own laundry list of excuses for the one event that cost them each of their losses, as if they couldn’t have played better on the other 60 or so plays to make a difference in the other direction.

The Vikings were down 33-0 last weekend. Despite that total disaster, they came back to win 39-36. We are nitpicking over individual non-Dalton events in each game that allegedly cost us a one score loss, the Vikings were needing five TD’s at the half. They played better on the plays outside those errors to win we need to do the same.

There's no stopping Andy Dalton. For Saturday, let's just go ahead and put him down for 375 passing yards and 4 TD's. After all, he's the number 2 ranked QB in the NFL, with phrasing emphasis on "number 2."

As valuable as they are, statistics need to be understood in context. For instance, an interception in the fourth quarter of a close game that changes the momentum of the game differs in impact from an interception of a Hail Mary at the end of the first half of a close game.

What does that have to do with passer rating?

What about total possessions, total plays ran?
Who leads the offense?

Dropped pass rate in the red zone, balls thrown in the end zone-drops?

What facts? Where are the facts?

And you absolutely need a check down pass for 3 yards to keep your PFF rating high:

I was responding (not to you) regarding wins and scoring. All of the above have to do with winning, scoring. Got it?
