Good article from an Ethics director. We could always be reminded to be better humans.
The better human in me agrees, but me, with a spouse that cannot get the vax; said spouse has only left the house twice since March 2020, says they get ZERO of my forks.

We could also stop the practice of asking mature adults to look the other way while the adult children among us continue to drag down society. I'm tired of hearing that the people with common sense need to placate toddlers with voting rights.

Gloat away if you want. If you have the right to die for a stupid cause, others have the right to NOT be the bigger person.

There's current discussion in another thread about coddling losers.

To clarify. I take no joy from anybody dying from anything. However, I keep hearing/reading about how it's their choice and that they're not hurting anybody.

That's fine. I get it, somewhat. The thought of dying doesn't bother me so if they feel that way about it I understand. The thought of HOW I die is another story and I can't imagine that any sane person would choose what COVID does to some people. Also, I don't have kids or a spouse depending on me.

If we all lived in a vacuum, I'd be inclined to agree. But we don't. And our decisions matter to other people. It's just that simple.

And to be sure, I don't gloat, but I'm not gonna feel much of anything for people who can't do something simple to protect themselves and their families.

Yeah, well I'm a bad person.

I'm heavier than I should be and I eat a poor diet. When I die from a heart attack or whatever, I'll laugh.

If you're a member of MADD and you die in a drunken car crash, I'm going to laugh.

If you're an anti-vax lunatic who believes politicians eat babies and microchips are going to control you and you die from Covid after publicly decrying vaccines, I'm not only going to laugh, but I'm going to revel in your demise while holding out some hope that your death is a teaching moment for the other idiots.

Judge me however you like and remember that I laugh every time I see the picture of Matt Ryan with the skidmark too.

Just.found out that my company is no longer gonna offer Covid PTO.
Our rules are if you are vaccinated and you have close contact, no missed time required. If unvaxxed, 10 days quarantine unless you provide negative test.
If employee tests positive, if vaxxed 5 days quarantine, if no symptoms after 5 days they can return, have to wear mask for 5 days after returning.
If unvaxxed and positive, 10 days quarantine.
The mask rules at work are if unvaxxed must wear mask, if vaxxed no mask required.

Does this eliminate any religious exemption requests from Catholics?
===============================================

ROME (AP) — Pope Francis suggested Monday that getting vaccinated against the coronavirus was a “moral obligation” and denounced how people had been swayed by “baseless information” to refuse one of the most effective measures to save lives.

Francis used some of his strongest words yet calling for people to get vaccinated in a speech to ambassadors accredited to the Holy See, an annual event in which he takes stock of the world and sets out the Vatican’s foreign policy goals for the year.

Francis, 85, has generally shied away from speaking about vaccination as a “moral obligation,” though his COVID-19 advisory body has referred to it as a “moral responsibility.”Rather, Francis has termed vaccination as “an act of love” and that refusing to get inoculated was “suicidal.”

On Monday he went a step further, saying that individuals had a responsibility to care for themselves “and this translates into respect for the health of those around us. Health care is a moral obligation,” he asserted.

He lamented that, increasingly, ideological divides were discouraging people from getting vaccinated.

“Frequently people let themselves be influenced by the ideology of the moment, often bolstered by baseless information or poorly documented facts,” he said, calling for the adoption of a “reality therapy” to correct this distortion of human reason…….

Do I understand correctly, that if vaxxed and test positive, that you have to quarantine without pay?

Depending on the company. Some pay sick leave. But once you run out of SL, you're probably SOL. But, some places are starting to deny sick pay to those unvaccinated.

yes. you have to use your own PTO. I am hoping that will change for vaxxed employees.
All employees do have at least 40 hours Vacation time and 24 hours personal/sick time starting each Jan.

It just seems unfair that a vaxxed person should have to use their own time if asymptomatic (though I guess that may have not been a need to test in the first place if that is the case).
