Depending on the company. Some pay sick leave. But once you run out of SL, you're probably SOL. But, some places are starting to deny sick pay to those unvaccinated.
I can understand if unvaccinated; but, if they aren't going to pay me, I'm coming in.

You'd risk getting fired because you decided to show up to work sick? Or am I misunderstanding you?
If I didn't feel well enough to work, I would not come in. Otherwise, I can't afford to take off work without pay.
My job is a little different, though. I have no coverage when off. If I miss 5 days, when I come back to work I have 6 days of work to do.
If the company allowed me to work from home, then it would be ok.

It just seems unfair that a vaxxed person should have to use their own time if asymptomatic (though I guess that may have not been a need to test in the first place if that is the case).

What its likely going to result in is people with mild cold/allergy like symptoms either not testing or not reporting positive tests, and going to work. And people who happen to test positive with no symptoms going to work too. Seems like a bad business decision to take the chance of putting down your whole work force, but wouldn't be the first time a company chased short term dollars at the cost of long term losses.

The problem I have is you're saying in essence that if you test positive for Covid, that you'd still go into work because getting paid is more important than the health of those you come in contact with at work. I just couldn't in good conscience do that.

It seems that in my unique case, there should be other options (company provided).
Do you think it is fair to ask a person to work for free?

Of course I'm not wanting to get anyone sick (much less die).
My point is that the company should cover the cost.

They should from both a humanitarian and long term business point of view. Ignoring the blow to employee morale, having a bunch of sick employees isn't going to help their business. And the problem is that even those willing to stay home and use their PTO/vacation/sick time could run out of time over the year. Some would then have to decide between going in sick and not getting paid which for many is not an option even if only for a few days to a week.

What makes you think that I don't care?
I'd do my best to keep away from others.
terrible things can happen with best intentions.
And you would do your best? lol I would hope you absolutley would keep away from others.... "Sorry i got your husband sick and he died, i TIRED to stay away from him, but i had work to do"... I wonder if Hallmark makes a card for that?.

yes. you have to use your own PTO. I am hoping that will change for vaxxed employees.
All employees do have at least 40 hours Vacation time and 24 hours personal/sick time starting each Jan.
IMO, this is going to cause problems. An employee on the lower end of that scale only has 5 days Vacation and 3 days Sick. Why even test in that case? I'm sure someone will reply, "because you have to think of others, and be a good human, etc." IMO, that ship sailed a long time ago. I can easily see people testing positive, not saying anything and going to work wearing masks. The company is inviting this behavior.
