I appreciate (and respect) your opinion. And yes, as I said previously, I'd take precautions against affecting anyone else.
Another place where it seems that I've failed is to make the point that this should be the company's cost (not the employee's).
No, I agree it should be the company's cost. I'm speaking more towards circumstances where it's not.

to @UK SAINTS point about sick leave
===========================

Current and former staff at some Red Lobster restaurants say they've worked while they're ill during the COVID-19 epidemic – in some cases because of a lack of paid sick leave or because they were unable to meet management requests to find cover, according to a report by Popular Information and More Perfect Union.

James Swartz, a former Red Lobster bartender in Pennsylvania, said he told management he wasn't coming to work after he developed COVID-19 symptoms. He said that management told him he'd have to either work or find cover for the shift, otherwise he'd get written up.

Swartz said that ultimately he stayed at home for two weeks but had no paid time off.............

That's pretty horrible, and possibly illegal.

IMO, companies that have similar policies are forcing their employees to make these types of decisions.

Do I understand correctly, that if vaxxed and test positive, that you have to quarantine without pay?
Generally yes. Many US companies, like mine, dropped the payed covid time, when the federal govt ended the tax break (or funding... don't recall).

Ours dropped it in the fall.

However, we all get 3 sick days a year, and PTO.

And honestly, it's mostly just hourly. Salary usually still get paid, unless your boss is a tool. Mine has told me, even pre covid, if my sick time is gone, don't sweat it.

That was essentially the sentiment I gave to my director when our HR emailed the policy change last fall.

You'll find out how honest people are. If asymptomatic, or enough to hide it, people will choose to put food on the table every time.

The problem I have is you're saying in essence that if you test positive for Covid, that you'd still go into work because getting paid is more important than the health of those you come in contact with at work. I just couldn't in good conscience do that.
Well, in theory if they aren't that sick, mask up, try to avoid people,.wash up a lot. Should be minimal to no risk.

Still, definitely a career limiting move.

The same companies that watch lower wage workers leave for $1-2 more an hour they wouldn't give them (earned usually), which is $2020-4160 per year, are unshockingly still being cheap. So yeah, they don't want to pay for 5-10 days off. Which, if making 20/hr is $800/week.

Indeed. Good points.
