Battlestar Galactica Discussions (MERGED)

I have little doubt that the next two weeks will not leave us wanting. We've been through a couple of slow episodes which existed just to tie up some loose ends and set up some better episodes near the end. This last week was very good. Not every week can have loads of action, but I enjoyed the plot twists in this one.

Here are some things which bear watching.

Lest we forget, Baltar has guns.

Anders is hooked into Galactica again. He could potentially jump. More interestingly, though, is that he's also hooked into the goop that they put into the ship in order to hold her together. Is he (in this case, a hybrid) a catalyst which will help keep Galatctica together in a firefight?

What's Boomer going to do. It looks like she's having regrets over kidnapping Hera (I think this one's pretty clearly telegraphed - she's going to do something, that's for sure).

What is really going to happen to Baltar (this is a huge plot device - will he be redeemed or stay the eternal cad in the end).

And of course, something regenerated Starbuck, didn't it? Someone else is out there, folks, and it seems they might just have some pretty serious technology available to them. Remember, it's been 2000 years since Earth went up in nuclear holocaust. Is it so inconceivable that someone else may have survived. And let's not forget that Deanna stayed on Earth. She was only around a little and I don't think it was just to keep the Xena fans watching. If she wasn't going to be heard from again, why unbox her at all?

Does anybody have any doubt what Adama meant about Galactica when he said they were going to "...send her out in style"?

Yeah, when they showed that closeup of his angished face and jutting incisors one more time, I thought they overdid it. Frak it, enough already.

Did anyone else notice this.. at the beginning of the last episode, they show Hera, and she appears to be playing with some Battlestar and Baseship models, looked like one of those maps they use on galactica when planning missions.. And Hera takes the battlestar model, and slowly plows it into a baseship

What confused me, was last we saw her, she was in a box, and was kidnapped by Boomer.. and then the next time we see her, she's still with Boomer, crying etc..

So where does the scene with her playing with the models come into.. was she projecting, a vision ? or what ?

Yes, that was the big board map table on the Galactica bridge. I thought she was projecting a vision of what's to come. Kamakazi mission for a stripped down Galactica, like the Pegasus did.

Cavel told Hera that she'd soon have a lot of little friends to play with too. Guess they're going to clone up a batch or two of Hera or the other Cylons.

Found a montage of the Galactica spaceship battles, done to the tune of "War." Excellent!

Slightly underwhelmed tonight, but hopefully there are more payoffs for the flashbacks in the finale. Roslin making her way down onto the deck to join the team was touching, though. I'm also a bit surprised Baltar didn't join the mission, since they seemed to be setting him up to finally do something 'self-less' after Lee's little speech.

Lee was right about Baltar, by the way. By this point, no person in their right mind would give Gaius the benefit of the doubt.

I can't wait to see how they pull off this mission. They've got a near impossible job trying to top the awesomeness of the atmospheric jump, though.

Personally, I think Baltar and Caprica 6 end up saving little Hera, but, don't tell anybody I told ya.

A select group of reporters was allowed to view the final cut of the final episode last night in New York after signing non-disclosure agreements and personally swearing to Micheal Moore that they wouldn't spoil it...

What fans want to know is if they'll be disappointed by the final answers. Is this final episode true to what has come before? Does is respect the fans and yet offer some staggering suprises?

The short answer is yes. It's an absolute kick-*** finale, and I can guarantee that when the final credits roll, you'll want to watch it again. I thought I had everything figured out, and yet there is at least one twist that seems to come out of nowhere. But thinking back over the previous episodes, I realize that the answers were there all along.

Moderated by Whoopi Goldberg (pictured, left), who prompted the conversation like a good bartender/stand-up veteran ("The UN is more than a building with fantastic curtains..."), the panel -- featuring Edward James Olmos (pictured, right), Mary McDonnell (pictured, center), and executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick -- discussed topics ranging from torture to women's rights to the pitfalls of technology. The only questions from the crowd of 300 or so were taken from a whip-smart batch of high school students. And it was never less than interesting, very often fascinating, and once, powerfully moving.

Good thing they didn't take James Callis. Odds are he's learned enough from playing Baltar to go from panel member to running the entire UN in about ten minutes.

Starbuck not daughter of danielle - cylon home world location

So I listened to Ron Moore's latest podcast yesterday, apparently he says there is many out there who believe that Starbuck, is daughter of Daniel ... he says this is absolutely positively not the deal... says he doesn't usually like to shoot down theories out there.. all part of the game and all etc etc.. but he said there were just so many folks who thought this, and felt the need to shoot down that theory, before going into the last and final episode......

and hey.. why is the cylon "home world" apparently so frakkin' close to where the Galactica and the fleet currently are.. the rag tag fleet has been traveling for years now.. but now all of a sudden, it takes a couple of hops in a raptor, to find the Cylon home world/colony ???

It could be anything but for some reason I still think Starbuck is a corrupted version of Daniel. Cavil was supposedly jealous that Daniel was the "favorite" and as we know he perfers to torture and torment those he hates rather than just kill them. What better torture for an "gentle artistic soul" than to turn him into a woman give her memories of a violent youth with a father who abandoned her and a mother who abused her and then set her programming so that she will seek out a military career. There are not a whole lot of characters in BSG at this point that do not have inner torment and turmoil but from start to finish Kara Thrace has led the way in the inner deamon department. I am probably way off base but I think she IS Daniel.

when I first heard of the idea that she was daughter of Daniel.. I certainly bought it.. told my kids about it, they got mad.. because they were like "oh yeah, right!' and got mad because they treated it as a "spoiler". And apparently her connection to Daniel has been a hot topic on other BSG forums as well..

For what it is worth, I'll repeat what I heard Ronald Moore say on his latest podcast.. which was to say that Starbuck has absolutely no connection with Daniel.. and that the Daniel story was introduced for no other reason, than to highlight Cavil and his 'ways' for boxing the Daniel line..

Ronald Moore also stated, that he does not like to "shoot down" theories out there about the show, considers it all part of the enjoyment of watching this type of show.. but he felt compelled to straighten this theory out, didn't want folks going into the last episode with that kind of expectation, only to be burned in the process..

of course. . I guess that's not to say that Ron Moore isn't pulling everyone's chain as well...

I wonder just how many ANSWERS are we going to get in tonight's 2 hour and 11 minute episode..
