Best Female Rock Vocalist (1 Viewer)

O.k., how about posting a video that clearly shows vocal superiority from the previous video, just sort of a compare and contrast. O.k. Ann Wilson, try to beat this one.

Tatiana, letter rip!

If you like Jinjer, you should check out Spiritbox with Courtney LaPlante...

I don't know enough material to make any informed decision on this, but I do know that Gretchen Wilson killed on a Heart classic

I think I'm done with the metal talk for a good while.. lol

I like that one song from Jinjer, it was definitely original.

I think Kim Shattuck probably could of been one of the few people that could of filled in for Nirvana, if they wanted to continue with that band.

Listen to her scream!

Joan Jett could scream like a kitty, if she wanted too. Not bad

Bjork is another one that could sing like no one else.

Not really my thing, but Mariah Carey's voice is incredible!

Mariah Carey

Don't get caught up in that opera style, there were around 5 styles of singing in that song.
Here one with pop and rock stylings and an insane scream near the end.

She also has a straight ahead rock project called Northward if you want to hear her sing more traditional rock without any of the operatic stuff. As expected, she sounds amazing. I can't say I loved the songs a lot....it's kind of in the Alterbridge camp. Good music to drive to, but not really for a deeper listen.

One more take on Tatiana's singing.

Opera singer/coach says, she goes from Britney Spears (pop) to Death Metal (with male-like voice). If that's not range, than Milli Vanilli didn't sing, blame it on the rain.

Joan Armatrading absolutely is a vocal superwoman, but despite a couple of songs she's written that have more of a rock feel, I definitely wouldn't call her a rock vocalist. Her arena is folk, jazz, and fusion.

TIL Screamo
I have always called it I hate you music.

To the topic at hand, it's too subjective and I'm not answering. I can't pick one out of the crowd.
The era that rock turned into angry screaming is when I stopped following that genre/style of 'rock'.

I know that people have a lot to be upset about in today's society and they are inspired to write/sing about it. But to hear such maniacal screaming being added to instruments being played as loud as the amp will allow just doesn't translate to music anymore. In fact to me it's just depressing (and deafening).
