N/S Biggest choke artists of all-time (#1 on page 8)

I get PTSD thinking about the 2012 divisional against SF...

Choking Moment:
My #10, Kyle Turley pulling the helmet off the player and tossing it down the field and costing the Saints the game and his career in New Orleans
I gave Turley a pass bc he was defending his QB. It was egregious that a flag wasn’t thrown for our QB’s head/helmet being forced back and damn near ripped off. Sure, Turley went over extreme, but how the heck do you not throw a flag for what they did to our guy? But then again, we never really get those calls historically speaking. Still doesn’t make it right though.

Were the Bills ever really favored to win any of their Super Bowls? I honestly don't remember, I was pretty young. I do remember everyone knowing that the Cowboys were going to murder them.

The wide right kick is probably on this list too.

I want to say they were favored over the Giants. It was the closest that Bills team ever got.

John Kasay’s kickoff out of bounds, Panthers vs Patriots, Super Bowl XXXVIII

It’s not as dramatic as a missed FG, which raised the question of whether Kasay was anxious or just complacent. But this moment hits the top 10 because it occurred in a Super Bowl and had huge implications. I mean, how hard is it to kick the ball inbounds? I’m pretty sure most of us would be able to kick the ball in bounds. Kasay did the only thing that he COULDN’T afford to do, and it costed his team big.

Yeah. One thing that sort of never gets talked about when we talk about 2009 is that Favre could have easily run for the first down. That throw was a huge mistake. The Vikings really had control of that game at that point and Favre made a terrible, terrible decision. Somehow it's bounced off of his legacy for the most part, but it was a choke job.

He was scared to run because bounties. Don't care, had Super Bowl.

Even if we hadn't hit him, he's have found a way to blow it somehow. Terrible decisions are the sine qua non of Brett Favre in the playoffs.

Years ago, the great Ray Ratto (SF either Chronicle or Examiner) run a column of pretty much nothing but a brief into about Favre's glorious reputation and then a list of the game situations of eight playoff losses in which Favre had essentially thrown a game-losing pick in the last seven minutes.

It was ******* glorious.

That's good background info. I didn't watch much of the game as me and my friends were out building a bike ramp that would ultimately give me about a 4 inch gash in my shin and get me grounded for a week or so IIRC. I just remember the kick missing. By the Cowboys Bills game I was in middle school, so I was paying more attention to football happenings. Still remember the Leon Lett premature celebration.

I should watch less football.

That is not a choking moment.

Also, I had no problem with what Turley did. Aaron Brooks was down, his legs were pinned under a defender then the Jets LB was pulling at his facemask bending him backwards.

Seriously could have hurt Brooks if Turley didn't step in and kick his ***!
