Blitzer tells atheist tornado survivor:"You gotta thank the Lord" (1 Viewer)

Whatever helps you sleep at night champ.

Your ability to understand the Christian religion does not affect my ability to sleep at night I do find it quite disturbing that you are so willing to judge something that is so blatantly obvious you know very little about. Nor do you want to truly want to try to understand.

Even if the woman was religious, I don't get the logic behind this question.

"You're standing amid the rubble and complete annihilation of your hometown with dead children strewn about.......you must be thanking the Lord right now"

What? Come again, Wolf? Yeah. Thanks for killing my neighbor's child instead of mine, Lord. You're so kind.

I just hate how people of faith try to have their cake and eat it too. " Thank God I survived that tornado. " To which I would say, " The same Tornado that your God created? "

Well many athiests I know we're raised Christian. I myself was born catholic; baptized, first communion, confession and confirmed. I understand Christianity as well as most, or as well as anyone who believes in an all powerful being they have never seen before.

It's our understanding of religion and often what it does to people that turns us away from it.

I can understand that and respect that because us as humans have taken religion off course at times. But to make off handed insulting remarks like some are here are doing show how little class and character they have.

You already acknowledged that you think your god killed those children because he chose not to spare them. If you think it's an insult to point that out I suggest you reevaluate your participation in this thread.

I understand why you're mad however, I'd be mad too if my god killed children.

I have plenty of knowledge on the subject. What I don't have is faith that'll allow me to ignore reality which is a prerequisite to take your position seriously.

Matthew 7 (NIV)

7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

No i didn't. You misguided understanding of Christianity leads you to believe that.

Why does bad things happen to good people?

I like to think of the second century saint, Irenaeus, and the 20th Century philosopher, John Hick help with this answer. Also known as the Irenaean theology. I truly believe "faith" is the answer. If God didn't set the laws of nature in motion and magically patted our collective butts whenever something bad happened we wouldn't mature. Think of raising a child, sometimes its best to let them fall and fail.

Thank god Im not judging. Im defending my belief from those that are less tolerant. I personally don't care how others believe. Just don't persecute me or others for their beliefs.
