Board Games - You should be playing them. Also, April 30th is international tabletop day. (1 Viewer)

I love board games. Cranium is my personal fave.

That's one of our go to games when we have the family over to the house. I used to play Catan a lot a few years ago since a buddy of mine had the game and one of the expansion packs

I was going to buy the risk- game of thrones edition. Then I saw the price, not going to happen any time soon.

My wife and I are on a HUGE kick with Forbidden Island and Forbidden Desert. These are some of the absolute most fun gaming experiences I've ever had, including video gaming. They're just a real blast. I played Betrayal at the House on the Hill the other night, and it's also quite a bit of fun, but I'll say I don't think the guy who was the only one to play it explained everything very well. I'm itching for another run at it.

I have played a few games of it, it has a neat exploration feeling, especially if you are willing to read all the flavor text. Last game I ended up being the evil person and was an alien. Infected most of the people and won. It's a neat experience.

If you like forbidden island, have you heard of pandemic legacy?

If you like risk, but are willing to put up with a fantasy theme, small world is a great game that plays in less than 2 hours. Diplomacy is a brilliant game of negotiation set around WW1. There are lots of war games that are well designed that could replace Risk. Risk even came out with Risk legacy, where you can manipulate the game over time. Adds replay ability to risk.

I used to play a lot of bookshelf games like
King maker, squad leader, victory in the pacific , diplomacy, civilization, just to name a few. I have them all packed away now. No longer know anyone that likes strategic games like these.

Back in the 80's we played these a lot:

Diplomacy has some great websites you can play the game remotely with friends or strangers.

We have recently been into Guillotine and Saint Petersburg. Both worth the time (though Guillotine is a card game).

I'm with Sean with regards to Lost Cities and Carcassone, both are very fun games that can be played by just two players.

St Petersburg is a great game. One of my favorites.
