Board Games - You should be playing them. Also, April 30th is international tabletop day. (1 Viewer)

Where do you purchase your games?

Depends on how much you wanna support a local business, their prices won't beat online stores but if you already use a place for comic books or something they may be willing to cut you a deal. If a game is sold on amazon, it's probably a decent price.

The best prices I have found are through a few of the online retailers. Cool stuff inc. is the one that I use:

CoolStuffInc.com online retailer of board games, mtg and many other collectible card games

If you spend $100 shipping is free, and their prices beat amazon every time. $100 seems like a lot, but a good game (unless it's a small card game) is almost halfway there towards $100 anyway.

I used to play a lot of bookshelf games like
King maker, squad leader, victory in the pacific , diplomacy, civilization, just to name a few. I have them all packed away now. No longer know anyone that likes strategic games like these.
I have unpunched versions of Civilization and Kingmaker and Dune on my shelf right now -- I bought them to replace mine after Katrina (man I lost a lot of board games to Katrina) and haven't played one of them since relocating to Georgia. :( My bookshelf used to look like an Avalon Hill catalog.

Oh man, that stinks.

I've always wanted to play Dune.

Dune was a lot of fun -- had a group of guys who played games in High School, mostly AH games like Dune, all nighters of Civilization, Amoeba Wars, Richthofen's War, Diplomacy, Kingmaker, Speed Circuit, Ogre/GEV, Wooden Ships & Iron Men, etc. I liked Civ and Kingmaker the most, and created a lame turn-based text computer game based on Speed Circuit on a TRS-80 Model III when I first started programming in high school.

I had a bookshelf full of the games so I know what you mean. Civilization is a long game but I loved playing it. I played Dune one time 30 years ago I do not remember much about it. What part of Ga. do you live.

NW Georgia -- Cassville, which is between Cartersville and Rome.

Walked into my attic (yes, my new house has a walk-in attic space thank you Jesus) and grabbed my box o'games. Also have Top Secret, Traveller, Star Wars The RPG, Judge Dredd the RPG, Marvel Super Heroes RPG and D&D of course on and on......

My grandparents bought me this when I was 7. I didn't understand it then....or ever.

International tabletop day just passed, checking to see if anyone had a chance to play anything interesting.

I played a game that just got reprinted, Tigris and Euphrates.
