Cam Jordan is returning to the Saints in 2025 [Saints & Cam agreed to pay cut, 10.3M savings] (4 Viewers)

Greatest Saints defensive player of all time

Last season was particularly brutal on Cam. He worked hard in the offseason to shed pounds to be a quicker pass rusher and he got kicked inside more. He was used sparingly and out of position AND the Grantham factor had the whole line looking disastrous. Frustrating for him more than others as he’s trying to squeeze out that last bit of production from his last years.

He’ll never be the Cam of old again, but IMO he’s not a liability and still can be productive and reliable.

I'll take Cam's opinion on those guys over anyone one here. I bet his comment about the D-line not being coached up was a direct shot at Grantham due to his dereliction of duty towards developing Foskey, Boyd, and the other young players.

Cam also didn't hold back when the Saints finally let Bill Johnson walk and brought in Nielsen. He was HYPED for Nielsen and sure enough, First Team All Pro the year Nielsen arrived.

Boyd should be NT 2. Sheppard needs to be cut. Idk what happens to Sheppard’s dead money if he is a post june 1st cut, but we have too many DI on contract. Godcheaux, Bresee, Sheppard, Saunders, the guy from commanders.

In a 3-4 Cam is out of place really and I guess would kick inside normally but not at his age. I think he will mostly be a backup for nickel 4-2-5 edge.

Because there’s a new staff on both sides of the ball, it might be a situation where the new coaches need to see first hand their players, before they just start cutting everyone. There’s also an experienced front office in place that has strong opinions. So I’m not surprised that they didn’t clean house. It would be interesting to see how many people Sean cut in year one at Denver compared to year two. But I’m sure Sean was more prepared going to Denver than was our staff.

I agree with you Rex. The film may indicate who can play, but the film will never indicate who can be COACHED to be better. And we have too many examples of former players being released and traded, then playing BETTER than they ever did as Saints. Enough examples that, IMO, if the choices are "player can't play" or "coaches can't coach", I'm more inclined to believe the latter. It seems that CKM places an emphasis on "teachers" for his positional coaches, which just makes too much sense to me. Coordinators should be teaching the SYSTEM, but positional coaches should be teaching the PLAYERS. An important distinction, IMO.

Too soon to say if CKMs way is the right way; or if he even chose the right coaches; but on paper, I'm VERY encouraged and looking forward to the results of that!

I agree. Let’s not forget that players gain reputations. And outside of the organization players and even coaches can become fans of other teams players. Are you really going to have the bowling balls to come to the Saints as a new coach and immediately cut, Taysom Hill, Demario Davis, Cameron Jordan, Tyran Mattieu, before really getting to know them first. It would be something Sean Payton would do, becaue he’s just that strongly opinionated.

As far as the vibe of the new staff, it feels like a really cohesive group with a positive winning energy about them. It’s hard to put your finger on it. But even when Staley was asked about if it was awkward now coaching under KM. He didn’t blink a second and shot that theory down. He was like, we’re all one unit, and titles do not matter. I get the feeling they all feel this way. I’m genuinely impressed. Anyone else have a vibe on them?.

He certainly sees more than we do but I’ll have to take it with a grain of salt as he’s prone to being a super positive cheerleader in all things. Love that about him too.

I do agree that it was a shot at the former coach. If Foskey ends up being ANYTHING at all I’ll eat my crow.
