Chris Olave’s brother Josh Olave will be on Underhill live stream during PHI-GB wildcard game

That Panthers played pulled up on the hit. He was not head hunting. And frankly most guys are not going to do that in the modern NFL because they don't want to get fined. And if they get the rep for heat hunting, they are going to get more penalties and more and larger fines.

Newsflash. They don't care.

Lets not act like that Panthers player who concussed him wasn't headhunting. That was over the top ridiculous. I think now that he has a history, someone out there is gonna make a dirty play in the future.
What's worse is no penalty called on the play. Which was absolutely absurd.

I had no idea the stat said that and I believe what you're telling me. But I've seen a lot of hits as the ball was getting there. So either the pass was early and he had to pull up (big possibility due to pressure on the QBs) or he wasn't getting enough to be able to make the catch AND protect himself. And this isn't just Olave. None of our guys get much separation and it seems like all passes are closely contested. I nearly never see our guys catching the ball in space.

I hear you. I don't think it showed on the field, but I suspect that had to do with either the scheme, Carr, or the OL. I know that the KK system uses strict progression so it's possible that Olave was open and had great separation a lot when the read progression required Carr to look at other guys first. So, maybe it's the system. Problem is that I think the system works for Carr because it means he has to make fewer decisions.

But, maybe it's just a good reason to find a new OC and QB that will use one of our only weapons better. Olave is always going to be a guy that is more susceptible to injury than bigger guys, but he's also a weapon so they need to find a better way to use him whether we end up calling him a #1 WR or not. Frankly, I think #1 WR is something fans and media use more than teams. They put guys in roles that fit their skill sets and then run the offense. I think teams do sometimes scheme to get one guy open, but I don't know that you can't do that with a smaller guy. It's been done with Diggs and Tyreek Hill. I"m not sure either is what fans consider a #1 WR, but damn if they don't help you win games.

I believe there was a penalty on that play. There was no penalty on the Bucs player who concussed him, however.

Ah, yeah, that might be what I was thinking. I do remember one play where he was hit in the head and no call.

Newsflash. If they didn't care, they wouldn't bother appealing the fines. And it will lead to more 15 yard penalties so even if they don't care, their coaches will.

They appeal because they can. Also, the "They" I am referring to is the NFL. They don't care about concussions.

It's lipservice that you are buying into. They aren't doing anything to take it out of the game. After the fact, pennies on the dollar fines does nothing.

We see the hits in every game. If they were really doing something, they would work their way out of the game.

They’ll probably be elaborating further on this point during the stream. I’m sure Josh can’t wait to go in.

He's not built to be a go-to receiver but a guy who makes explosive plays, if he was starting opposite Michael Thomas, he'd be thriving.

I'm not buying into anything. I know they don't care about concussions. But they do care about image so they pretend to care about concussions. Of course you see hits every game. It's a violent sport by nature, that can't be changed. But, what you don't see are the devastating shots over the middle with forearms, targeting heads, nailing defenseless receivers regardless of if they catch the ball or not, etc. There are no Ronnie Lott, Sammy Knight, or Jack Lambert type players because it wasn't good for the image of the NFL and costs them corporate dollars. You do sometimes see it in the playoffs because they let them play in the playoffs because it only risks losing star players for a game or two and not for an entire season which hurts ratings.

For example...they're putting all this work into "making kickoff safer" while they haven't even touched punts which is waaaaaaaay more dangerous.

How can we do the most to give off the appearance of making things safer while doing the absolute least

This is a bad look for Olaves brother and Nick.
Olave's brother stepping in and talking reminds me a lot of the Derrick Rose situation in Chicago. Rose tore his ACL, he was cleared after 8/9 months but his brothers started directing him on what to do and he didn't come back till 18 months. That rubbed Chicago the wrong way..

Olave's brother blaming Carr is stupid. Needs to shut his mouth along with Thomas.

I’m on the stream now. Nothing super controversial. Just talking football. Seems to know his stuff pretty well.
