Anyone saying Olave hasn’t produced is just wrong. End of discussion. I forget the stat but I think Olave is like one of the only WRs in history to record so many consecutive 40+ yard games. Anyway Olave has produced and he’s done it with bad offensive coordinating. But we need a big X type of WR or a TE to help take off some of the pressure.
Consecutive 1000 yard seasons before injuries this year, he certainly has done a very good job producing!Anyone saying Olave hasn’t produced is just wrong. End of discussion. What great player doesn’t want number 1 money though? If he wants it, he will have to prove he can do the dirty work every go to guy does and stay healthy.I get his brother being unpopular due to his tweets/comments, but Chris Olave hasn’t really conveyed the idea that he wants to be paid #1 money without getting hit or having defenders focusing on him.
Lets not act like that Panthers player who concussed him wasn't headhunting. That was over the top ridiculous. I think now that he has a history, someone out there is gonna make a dirty play in the future.
Correct, Olave has never been the problem.Consecutive 1000 yard seasons before injuries this year, he certainly has done a very good job producing!
Could be but Saints coaching staff needs to realize that they have to use Olave a lot better than they have for 3 years now. Several concussions yet something’s not getting through to them on what type of skillset Olave has.
Too many violent middle of the field looks that could be more sideline outs, curls, and deep shots. Routes that takes advantage of Olave’s quickness and elite separation on the break. Instead of throwing him into brutal hits.
People like to overlook that. It's going to happen for the rest of his career.
Watch today's GB/PHI game. GB defenders will go for Hurts' head if they get the chance, they'll try to slam him into the ground.
Olave was unhappy that he wasn’t getting the ball the prior year. So now he gets the ball when he’s covered pretty closely and gets lit up and hurt as a result. It seems to me like he isn’t getting the separation needed to get the targets he wants without getting balls thrown in odd places that leave him exposed. If the QB threw the ball to safe spots for Olave, they’d be more likely to be intercepted. Thats why he’s not a number 1. Need a big guy that can take a hit and draw attention from Olave and probably reduce his targets.
I had no idea the stat said that and I believe what you're telling me. But I've seen a lot of hits as the ball was getting there. So either the pass was early and he had to pull up (big possibility due to pressure on the QBs) or he wasn't getting enough to be able to make the catch AND protect himself. And this isn't just Olave. None of our guys get much separation and it seems like all passes are closely contested. I nearly never see our guys catching the ball in space.Olave was leading the league in separation before he got hurt so lack of separation wasn't the issue. I also don't think "#1 WR" requires you to be an X or run all the routes. As I know you know, each position requires different skills and you don't have to be a big guy that goes over the middle to be the #1 WR.
And I don't really care if he's the #1 WR or not, they need to use him in a way that keeps him on the field and best uses his talents.
That Panthers played pulled up on the hit. He was not head hunting. And frankly most guys are not going to do that in the modern NFL because they don't want to get fined. And if they get the rep for heat hunting, they are going to get more penalties and more and larger fines.
What's worse is no penalty called on the play. Which was absolutely absurd.Lets not act like that Panthers player who concussed him wasn't headhunting. That was over the top ridiculous. I think now that he has a history, someone out there is gonna make a dirty play in the future.

Newsflash. They don't care.
