Christian McCaffrey or Alvin Kamara ??? (3 Viewers)

Their respective stats are almost identical.
1 was a top 10 pick, the other was a 3rd rd pick(that was OROY).
1 has played for 2 teams, the other same 1 that drafted him.
1 was the ONLY offensive weapon for his team, the other shared the offense w/many other weapons.
Kamara has played a few more game & scored a few more total TDs.
McCaffery has slightly better avg.
1 plays currently w/a stellar OC & OL, the other played for a Carmichael offense for the last few years.
1 is playing this weekend, the other...who knows?

I'll take Alvin every time.

Yeah top 3 ??? I don't think so

Hell, I saw where Skip Bayless said Barry Sanders was overrated,,
Now I know he's on TV meant to stir the pot, but that's just a stupid statement right there.
If Barry had played for the Cowboys he'd be making a video every week about him being the best running back of all time.

It's hard for AK when he's getting hit in the backfield on nearly every run. He has to break at least one tackle to gain a positive yard. For the value of a 3rd round draft pick vs a 1st that cmac was, I think AK is the better value. I'd take either one of em to build a team around. If a system was built around AK like Tennessee did with Henry, we might have seen a 2k yard year.
THIS. The real winner was the Saints' front office. Hard to say Carolina was the winner given that CMC spent so much time there on IR, then went to SF and excelled, before again . . . wait for it . . . going on IR. CMC might be more talented than AK. But coaches sometimes say that the best ability is availability. Meanwhile, AK in yet another season suffered an injury (is this in part due to OL play?) and is apparently going to play through it.

Yeah I get that. Kamara has been pulling the wagon mostly himself through the 1st 3 games.

Unfortunately Taysom was out last week. Hopefully he can help share the load.

Williams still doesn't look like he can be a relief back with more than a touch or two.

Maybe Mims can make a few plays. The Saints can't get a healthy Kendre Miller back soon enough. Hopefully he's good to go next week and has fresh legs and a big desire to prove something.
That was a very informative post. I knew CMC and Kamara were close in production. But i didnt realize that they were close in so many categories.

I think if Kamara played in Carolina and SF, he would of fared better. Both teams always have a strong run game.

Kamara would be the best RB of all time if he were in San Francisco.

It's all about the system. The raw talent of both is obvious.
Maybe so but he would be in the same condition CMac is in now.

Hobbled and injured.

CMac touched the ball over 400 times last season and the wear and tear has gotten to him.

I'll take Kamara.

Kamara and McCaffrey behind the same o-line and with the same coaches are basically the same player. McCaffrey has benefitted from better offensive coaching and a better o-line for the past few years.

I kind of compare the Kamara vs. McCaffrey debate to the JJ Watt vs. Cam Jordan debate.

Both sets of players were drafted the same year and have similar career stats. However, they got those stats differently. Watt/McCaffrey had a handful of MONSTER seasons racking up HUGE stats but lost big chunks of seasons due to injury. Kamara and Jordan have had very consistent probowl caliber seasons with few games lost to injury. That consistency is reflected in the probowls vs. all pro awards the players have received. Kamara/Jordan have more probowls but McCaffrey/Watt have more All Pros. Frankly, at this stage, I would take my boys Kamara/Jordan due to consistency and availability.

Comparisons here:

Yeah, I posted this in January and the idea is once again proving true this season. Kamara is the model of consistency whereas CMC has the absolutely monster All-Pro seasons and then follows them up with injury wash out seasons. I'm taking Kamara and his consistency/availability all day every day. Think that consistency also resulted in Jordan/Kamara playing their entire careers for one team (hope that stays true) and Watt/CMC did not.

To answer the OP, right now I'm taking AK41......

Markedly different RB's with the same overall skill sets, when healthy can't go wrong with either IMO

If I remember correctly, Kamara has only played in about 10 more games than McCaffrey.
Availability is almost identical as well.
Just another false "memory".
I'll still take Alvin!

CMC and AK are too close to argue about.

I think both are in the top 20 of all time, and could crack the top 10 someday if they stay healthy a few more years.

Both are from the mold of LT, though AK runs a little more violently. They have a lot of catching up to do to have a career as good as LT.

McCaffery got injured and traded by a bad franchise then entered a perfect offensive system for his skill set. Kamara is now in that system and thriving. The gap is not as big in the present. McCaffery is not a top all five back. He is a great modern back but when you consider the punishment and nature of classic NFL offenses and the backs that led them, there is a long list of more talented runners that would never have the freedom that McCaffery has to avoid punishment. It is just different. It is the same reason I would take Montana over Brady because Brady played in an era where hitting the quarterback was functionally outlawed for TV ratings.

Kamara was pretty special today, particularly on the go-ahead goal lone td where he got hit two yards back and still scored, breaking through two defenders. With a broken rib. Missing his starting FB, plus the Ruiz and McCoy.
