Cleveland State Debate tonight... (2 Viewers)

If Obama's the nominee I don't see any way that McCain wins a single debate.

I don't know. One thing McCain does well is answer direct questions pretty directly.

I would really like to see that debate, to be sure.

I know there is no way it will happen before Texas/Ohio but, if this debate for her was as bad as it seemed to me (and I'm not really an objective source), I have to imagine that the very tiny subset of Dem party brokers that want her to drop it now so that Obama can devote his energies to McCain just got a little larger...and possibly a lot more vocal.

I would as well. One thing is for sure about McCain: He's not afraid of bad odds. He's gone from being written off for dead, politically speaking, to being the presumptive nominee. I'm sure he would welcome the opportunity.

Well that's a wrap. I've got Sen. Obama the clear winner in every round.

What do you say, Howard.

"Dandy Dads, if Elvis Presley didn't already have claim on the nickname 'Black Velvet,' I would have no problem bestowing it upon the consumate candidatorial KO by Senator Obama tonight. He was smooth. He was gracious. He was wise. Simply put, Senator Clinton looked bad in comparison."

Cue the Alannah Myles song:

Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please

I think McCain can win debates with Obama. It won't be this stuff we see here with Hillary and Obama. Obama is a far left guy and McCain is a Moderate. they will be enough differences that they can debate on and it wont be a lovefest. The war, tax breaks, poverity and education as well as other issues.

Obama needed to be a movement to beat Hillary but to beat McCain it will be tough. Obama always says he will reach across the aisle and bring them to his side to build a coalition. McCain can say well i walked across the aisle because sometimes the opposing party has good ideas. thats why they have two parties. two parties represent that people have different beliefs. i just find sometimes Obama thinks republicans are all wrong. He has said that he disagrees with republicans or they have bad policies. that won't bridge the gap. at least mccain has sided with ted kennedy and finnegold. he is the center. Hopefully Obama sees that as well. i highly doubt many of us here are far left or far right people. we are in the center which shows we are a glutton for punishment which is why we are all saintsfans :)

Hillary should have stuck to her guns and boycotted MSNBC for the Chelsea remark. Fox, strangely, would have been more even-handed. Hillary's record on trade, Iraq, and Bill is far more substantial than quizzing Obama on endorsements.

Even so, Hillary flubbed it. It's easy to be principled when FALN terrorists are pardoned and you've sewn up the vote.

Only Russert would ask Hillary about releasing her tax records. Wolf Blitzer comes across as some typical kiss-*** mid-level manager when he moderates these debates.

Do we have a new nickname for Mr. Obama?? :dunno:

Here's how my brain works, Mr. Blue Sky.

The first verb that came to mind about Sen. Obama tonight was "smooth."

Which brings us to "smooth as?"

To which the answer is, of course, "velvet."

That's when the old song popped into my head.

Howard Cosell was well known for his highly verbose comparisons, so I had Howard offer it up as one of his brilliant ideas.

See? :hookline:

Smooth came to my mind too but instead of "velvet" I thought of "operator"...then the Sade popped in my head...:hihi:

Superfan, there's a long way to go but I think two things, at this point, could really work against McCain. His admitted weakness in economic matters and his position on Iraq and beyond. Both are issues that are going to be pivotal to most voters. Public opinion is pretty low on the Iraq war and there is a lot of concern about the economy. There's a fair amount of "window dressing" when it comes to candidates discussing the economy, but if he projects himself as too weak on the subject, it likely won't bode well for him in November.

Of course there will be many factors and issues, just the way I see a couple of points in the early going to challenge the notion you put forth.

Obama should have accepted the four proposed debates and pushed for four more.

I watched on the web, and now watching CNN break it down, and Paul Begala is clearly delusional. I don't like how they have supporters of Clinton and Obama weighing in. According to Begala, Hillary was the winner, and vice versa for the Obama supporter.

You Americans clearly need some more political parties...

I'm sure that SaintsReport would have no problems holding a fundraising drive for the site that involves you posting a Youtube vid of yourself singing "Smooth Operator" if they reach a certain threshold! :9:
